I dont get the disappointment with the 40 supers. it's objectively a better deal. it's either cheaper and about the same power, or the same price with a spec bump. even GN tried to act like this was some sort of bad thing.

What I would love to see again.... 60 - 350€ 70 - 500€ 80 - 700€ 90 - 999€ Put the Tis in between. Cheaper cards again would be so dope. Capping the 90 model at below 1k would REALLY be the move I'm looking towards to. With 4090s around 1,8k and 4080 (supers) probably being like 1,2-1,3k realistically its just a shit show. Msrp doesn't mean anything if no card can be had for it...

I still believe that the 7800XT wins the price/performance ratio here. $100 less than the SUPER for very comparable results. As Jay says, I think Nvidia missed the boat and priced all of the cards about $100 - $150 more than they should be. In Canada, we're at $639 for a 7800 XT in some cases, with the SUPER starting around $849.. $200 difference for less than 10% performance.

I like Ray Tracing and Frame Gen ... like it or not frame gen is the future since the die size for GPU's is reaching a point of diminishing returns ... and NVIDIA is superior in every way to AMD in these regards. At least around Christmas, the 4070/7800XT were about the same price at $500. For me personally, $500 is kinda my cutoff for a video card. If it's more than $500, i'll switch to previous Gen and buy used. But that's just me. And honestly part of why I got the 4070 was no special PCI connector.

You could go cheaper and have the same results if you go 1080p and of course that means a monitor of max 24 inch to keep the image crispy clear. @@joaomiguelgoncalvesdematos6135 This is my plan. My 3070 is still perfectly capable of playing basically any modern game at 4k with some compromises like DLSS and reduced texture/RT settings but they still look really good so I'm not feeling pressure to upgrade just yet. That said, upgrading right now isn't necessarily a bad idea. At least locally, it looks like I can still get ~$300 for my 3070, so for an extra $300 out of pocket, a 4070 Super isn't an absolutely terrible value. Where this gets questionable is when considering an upgrade to the 4070Ti Super for an extra $200 which puts you close to the 4080 in terms of performance. By the time the 5070 is out, I'll be lucky to see $200 for my 3070 and if the 5070 follows typical generational performance improvements then we can expect it to outperform a 4080 and if nVidia decides to raise the price another $100 like they did with the 4070 then we're getting really close to break-even with upgrading to the 4070Ti Super right now and also not having to wait until 2025 for an upgrade.

I have an almost finished PC, just needing a GPU and secondary storage, and i originally had my eyes on the Gigabyte Windforce 4070 when I was planning out my build last year, but then the Super versions were announced and I saw how good the 4070 Super FE looks. I saw that Gigabyte's 4070 Super Windforce design was basically identical to the non-super version, but I cannot get over how nice this Super FE card looks, it would fit my build so well. It's a hard decision, but I think I'm leaning towards the FE.

That's so funny. I literally had my hands on the Gigabyte WINDFORCE 4070 for about a month, when the super series was announced. Luckily I was still within my return policy and returned it and just ordered the super FE today. Absolutely worth the extra $50 for a performance increase of up to 20%. Not to mention it looks great. Though I fully expect the regular 4070 to drop to $499. Otherwise buying the card is completely worthless

I have basically never had it stutter in the timeline unless I used some crazy effects but honestly it think that has more to do with my R5 3600 than the 4070. My card do 38fps. A 3080ti do 31. A 3080 do 30. A 6900xt do 28. A 2080TI do 21. A 4090 do 55 (wow). A 4080 do 36 (another one do 35, so it's legit). Somebody tried the benchmark on a 4070 with another resolution, so i tried. He got 62fps, i got 85. Given the 4080 scores, i would say AMD is competitive in VR. The 4090 score look so much higher compared to it's 2D performance, it is strange.

I have the 7900xt and for windows mixed reality headsets, it runs well, no problems with steam VR either. Meta needs to update their program/drivers though.

@@PyromancerRift This is good news from both of you. Makes me feel a lot less constricted to in the future just considering buying an Nvidia GPU. I have a Valve Index and RTX 3080 w/5800X3D so I am probably going to wait until a cross generation upgrade I am more than good for now but I'm glad AMD has competitive VR performance now. I know a couple ultra high end VR headsets like the Varjo Areo didn't support AMD GPUs which is so dumb, but I think they're fixing that on their newer nicer models thankfully

I pulled the trigger on the 4070 Super FE. It was at the top of what I was willing to send for a graphics card. I never owned a FE card and now I have one. I am happy with the card and I will keep it for at lest 4 years before I buy a new one.

I'm replacing my 3060 12G with the 4070 Super on my current AM4 platform. When I upgrade platforms it will move over nicely. The performance jump is real ... unlike the 4060. Besides, I have a home for my 3060 which makes this purchase well worth it. Funny thing is I buy groceries at Wally World with their cash back Master Card and over the last year I've accumulated enough points where I can buy this card outright with cash back money. The only thing that matters - Did they change the damn HP connector or no? Not that it matters for this card, but I'm assuming if they changed it on this one, then the 4080 Super. and eventually the 4090 super later this year will have it updated as well..

Based on it's price and the performance, to me the 4070 Super seems to be a good addition to the 40 series, especially as it pushed the 4070 down in price (the pricing and performance of the entire series is an other question). I've bought my Zotac 4070 before Christmas, and I could be mad at myself for not waiting, but I'm actually happy how it performs so there's no buyer's remorse at least. But if I'd do my shopping now, I'd go for the 4070 Super.

I bought a 4070 Super OC (Zotac) to replace my 3070 card and the speed difference is night and day with Ray Tracing on. It was $100 too much IMO, but the upgrade overall was worth it. I tried a 7800XT first but every time I try to go team red, something ALWAYS goes wrong. This time the card I got was having random signal losses on reboot which forced me to power the machine off and back on. Upon researching the card, this is a common problem so I went back to Nvidia.

Always find it interesting coming from an 'outside of USA' perspective. Here in NZ the 4060 is a little under $400usd and a 4070 is currently around $700-750usd. Older 3000 cards are either WAY too expensive or the 'cheap' ones have all been mined on! It seems like the main issue people have with the 4000 cards, is less performance, rather 'price to performance'. I picked up an ASUS Dual 4060, on special, for about $370usd, and for gaming at 1080p high res, this really is the only sensible option. As for AMD, you basically can't get 6000 cards and the obvious AMD equivalent (7700xt), is almost the same price as the rtx4070. So 4060 for 1080p, 4070 for 1440p and 4090 for 4k. Super series being released here tomorrow, so will be interesting to see what prices do?

@@everymangamer1608 - in NZ too waiting for these releases to purchase one of the higher end 4080s and monitoring all cards prices to pick the best time to grab one, and have noticed a few local stores now recently had 4070s etc quite cheap (without being on sale) , then about 2 weeks ago the prices randomly went up about a week before the super release, then the day of the 4070 super release the 4070 prices were back to the same they were before (that were the low prices without being on sale) and have the "discounted sale" references alongside them, grimy tactics, from the 4070 super release prices it looks as though whatever the previous prices were from most of the cards will be taken over by the super series and the new prices may stay as the now "false discounted prices" for a while, I have noticed the 4080s have had a big drop from ~$2500+nzd to ~$2000nzd finding some to be cheaper than the 7900xtx cards now and if the supers come in with the same NZ release values then the 4080 super variants may all be around the $2500-$3250 price point, the 4070TI super may be around the $1750 mark, past history prices since the 40 series release in NZ show the prices high for the first month to month and a half of release then they all drop off a fair chunk of $$ and stabilize for a while Below looks to be current prices as well as some "assumptions" 4070 series ~$1000-1200nzd mark 4070 super ~$1300-1600nzd mark 4070 ti - currently ~$1400-1700nzd mark 4070 ti super maybe ~$1700nzd range 4080 currently ~$2000-2500nzd mark 4080 super maybe ~$2500-3250nzd mark since some of the original 4080s came in well over $3k Each separation seems to be somewhere around +250nzd for the same brand Basically one way to gauge is look at US prices, now USD to NZD is not exactly half, but because of shipping to NZD etc and tax etc normally you can double the US prices and have a close enough gauge to what they will be or should be here
