You literally deported a man to a country he knows nothing about. He's American.... can you not hear his American accent.

This is how America decided to treat a fellow American. Heartbreaking.

Sad that the abusers (Thomas Francis Crapser and his wife, Dolly-jean crapser) only served 90 days each after pleading guilty to 12 counts of horrific abuse to 8 of their adopted children, but adam got 25 months for non-violent burglary? This child literally had his life turned upside down and had to rely and strangers to protect him when all they did was cause a lifetime of scars...I feel bad for all the adopted children that have to face the horrors of abusive adults. I hope each and every one of them are able to find peace and I hope those "parents" get what's coming to them because the justice system has really failed to protect these innocent kids from unsuitable homes.

I looked this guy up and his story is heartbreaking. He was abandoned and beaten as a child. Arrested as a teen for breaking into his abusive family’s home for trying to retrieve some belongings. As an adult he turns his life around and opens a business. Tries to apply for a green card after finding out his papers are forged. Gets deported because requesting a green card triggered a background check. He was trying to do the right thing and they punished him for it.

He FOUND the problem. He APPLIED to correct it. They are PUNISHING him for trying to do the right think. HOW CAN THIS BE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE?

This is heartbreaking. He should sue for being adopted into a family that dumped him like an unwanted pet. He should sue for being placed in an abusive home. He should never have gone to prison for retrieving his own possessions. It's not right what has happened to him and so many others.

This just makes me mad and breaks my heart...how could immigration deport him. This is beyond ridiculous ! It is not his fault that he was brought over as a child and his adopted parents failed to complete some piece of paperwork.

I'm adopted out of Romania when I was about seven years old. I tried to imagine what it would be if all the sudden I was sent back after integrating and becoming an American. I can't fathom. This is wrong on so many levels and it makes me wonder how it even did happen. Adam seems to never have had the fair end of the stick but he came to this country in as much legal precedence as one could from being adopted. The fact he tried to do it the right way and file his status is what should have granted him some leniency. This isn't a person who came over the border with drugs and violence in their intention. Where is there any empathy? This is heartbreaking. America is better than this. How did we drop the ball this hard?

How can you hold a child accountable for their actions. He didn’t ask to come over here.

I was a Korean adoptee. From the Holt agency. My adoptive parents made sure I got my citizenship. I was eight years old. This guy’s adoptive parents shouldn’t have ever had children. This is heartbreaking. Horrible.

In 2019 Adam filed a lawsuit against the South Korean government and the adoption agency for sending hundreds of children to the US and never accounting for their citizenship status, or their well-being calling it gross negligence. I hope Adam gets his justice.

I'm a US Soldier, and I dont fight for this kind of treatment. Once you take a child out of his natural inviroment and force it to adapt to a new inviroment, you should take ownership of that child. It can never go back because it won't be accepted nor will it survive. My heart bleeds for this young man, I am so sorry for what you are going through. America does not represent this.....

When I saw that couple adopt 8 kids… I thought right away they’re doing this for money or something else. It’s heartbreaking because I know there’s many many good American families who would have loved him and raised him well. What a bad hand he was dealt… it’s going to be hard for him to integrate into Korean society but I hope he can do it for his family.

All immigration rules cannot be used against this man for that he is not an immigrant. He didn't migrate to the US, he was brought to the US. It's not like Adam forged his visa or crossed the border illegally. He was brought to the states, probably against his will, and then got thrown from one foster family to another and dumped. Almost 40 years later, the time where he finally had a loving family and a stable home, America kicked him out and again against his will. It's almost like the adopters brought him to ruin his life, and when he got close to ''the American Dream'' the US decided to ruin Adam's life more.

I'm just now seeing this. Adam was my roommate in Salem and best friend for years. He is even my motivation to become a licensed barber. It's so sad that this happened to him. Being separated from his wife, kids, friends and everything he knows. He's been through so much, even at the hands of his adopted family. Brought to a place that he didn't know and didn't speak the language. The Crapsers are truly evil people. I knew this entire story, yet seeing this (Especially when he was in ICE detention center about to cry himself) seriously made me cry. Adam, I love you, bro! I pray for you regularly.

My ex-husband was almost deported in the mid-nineties after serving 16 years years in the US Army. He had a green card and lost it because apparently you cannot be out of the country for more than three years at a time. He was deployed several times and could not take leave to come back to the states, therefore forfeiting his greencard in the process. The only reason he didn’t get deported is because we got married. Had both just got out of the military, and we were living together and planning on getting married anyway, so we just move the wedding up quite a bit.

Heart-breaking, the system failed Adam, seems like a great guy, I hope he’s together again with his family now.

This should not have happened. I think foreign adoptions deserve the same oversight as domestic ones. He should NOT be deported because he didn't lie, he didn't NOT file the paperwork. Adam sounds like an amazing person and has been failed and let down over and over. He needs someone to stand his corner because nobody ever has by the sound of it. It makes me so mad to hear about some of the things he's been through, nobody should ever experience such a life.

Being abused, this would be looked at today as human trafficking of a child. The government allowed this to happen to him by taking no oversight of what happens to these children once they got here. This is so sad and heartbreaking to take a boy away from his country for 37 years. He gets dragged up as a child by people who don’t want him. He starts to settle down and have a family, then because of a piece of paper was not filled out correctly by law, he has got to leave the US and return to a country he doesn’t know nothing about and start a new life where he doesn’t know anyone.

The sad thing about this is that Adam did the right thing and got punished for it. He wasn't in charge of getting the proper documentation for himself as he was just a child so when he realised what had happened and went down the legal route and got deported for it. He could have just stayed in the side-lines and kept on being this "illegal" immigrant. (obviously he had no choice in the matter due to the Korean War) but he acted like an honest personal and what a proper citizen should be like. He owned up to the mistake that had been placed on him and tried to fix it and got punished for it. This is the kind of man you want in your country. Honest and hardworking and I hope he finds his way back to America, his homeland and the only country he has known all his life.

This is heartbreaking! He was a child who’s adoptive “parents” couldn’t be bothered to fill out the proper paperwork … in too much of a rush to collect a check, then beat & abuse him, as well as his adoptive siblings! THEN, after working his ass off to overcome that childhood abuse, to rehabilitate himself from the mistakes made in his youth, & to become a functional member of society - w a family of his own(!) - he gets deported!?! As if he, as a 4 y/o child, was the 1 responsible for filing documentation that he didn’t even existed? That’s BULLSH*T! Our gov’t needs to change MANY of its policies, throughout MANY of its departments, drastically & immediately! This case is a perfect example: it seems like the gov’t was lying in wait to find him as an adult, in order to punish him - via deportation - for the mistakes/neglect of the people who were responsible to care for him as a child! His case is eerily reminiscent of the (still unresolved) situation of the recipients of DACA - except that he (& those other - now deported - South Korean adoptees), had no idea he was here illegally, bc those responsible for processing his immigration papers couldn’t be bothered to do so! Also, to think that he could have had a completely different, loving childhood, had he been allowed to stay w the woman who wanted him for better reasons than a f*cking check, makes this all the more heartbreaking. It serves as yet another reminder of the fact that, as I said previously, there needs to be drastic & immediate change to MANY of the policies of our gov’t, as there are systemic issues, problems, loopholes, etc. throughout ALL of these gov’t departments - many serve to exclusively target the poor & lower-middle class, often regardless of their ethnicity! In this case especially, we shouldn’t have to (literally) pay for our gov’t to deport other Americans (& yes, he is very much an American!), due the oversight of others, multiple decades before, when those, who were/are about to be deported, were themselves, still only very young children! This is unbelievable, purposeful cruelty … & essentially, an example of ethnic cleansing, under the guise of the judiciary & on behalf of egregiously bigoted legislation & policy implementation!

It's really sad the way this guy's life ended up. He had no say when he was adopted as a child, he went through an abusive family situation, and because of a technically, he was deported after decades. Consider the guy has a family in America and he was running his own legal business, it's disappointing that a piece of paper was not filled in decades ago by his adopted family he has to deal with this now.

I was adopted by American Parents at the age of 8. I tried to join the military after High School and found out my parents never did anything with my immigration papers. I enter the U.S with a student visa but they did nothing. I couldn't have them help me with my my papers because I was considered an adult. Well I am 50 years old now and after numerous years of paying lawyers and fighting the immigration process I will be getting my Citizenship in 2023. I have spent over 50 thousands of dollars and been taken advantage of by numerous layers. But I am a die hard American I am not a citizen just a Resident but I bleed Red White and Blue. And I hope and pray that INS can make the process easier for people who were adopted as children to stay in America and get their Citizenship.

They let drug dealers and human traffickers stay but focus on deporting guys like this..

Everyone keeps telling me to give my dog up bc I am currently living out of my car. Just because she is not a human does not mean I did not adopt her as my own. That's exactly what I did. She's my daughter, my heart, and the missing chunk of my soul.
