Water bottles and a plastic bag are great ways to set your drag if you're looking for a certain resistance. A bottle of water is usually about a pound when full. It's easy to eye it up for a half pound or quarter, eighth, etc. Just put the bottle(s) with the water in the plastic shopping bag, hang it off your hook, and slowly tighten the drag until you get the resistance you want. You know you've gotten to the proper drag when you can barely lift the bottle off the ground without the drag letting out.

Love the ideas ! And I shot alot at dollar tree because I'm a budget Fisherman to , here is one more tip for you .get the play Doug and buy multiple colors and get some glitter from art section and mix with the play dough .you just made trout bait and for added attraction go to spices and buy some garlic powder to add to bait ! That power bait and Berkley trout bait runs 4 to 5 bucks a jar and you can make multiple jars with 5 bucks spent at dollar tree .also they sell whole sweet corn and cheese which also makes great trout bait and corn is 58 cents ,cheese a buck ! Bread ,hot dogs ,shrimp ,and other packaged fish is sold to use for catfish !!!! Not a bad bait shop if you ask me ! Keep the video's coming I love to save money on fishing stuff and my wife let's me buy more when I do !!!

I’ve got the magnets from harbor freight in my boat. You know, the ones for hanging tools on. You can catch them on sale for a bucks sometimes. They’re great for hanging pliers, scissors, and all kinds of stuff on.

Don't forget all the foil shaped pans to bake all those fish you caught. Also Seasonings and all other flavor enhancers for those fish. Great Video. When you’re gluing items with super glue, sprinkle some baking soda right away and it will set it hard instantly and you can sand it down and even build it up if you need something heavy. 👍🎣

Just did this today to repair an old abu Garcia from the 80’s. It’s a plastic housing ambassadeur lite plus. The line guide was worn where it ride back and forth on the worm gear housing. She’s good to go now! Cccn

Rad, In the pet isle is Flea and Tick spray 8 oz bottles. I use it on my boots and pant legs every time I go out fishing.

I don't know if it's available everywhere but there's a great cleaner available at most dollar stores- L.A. Amazing Cleaner or something like that. It comes in a great spray bottle too that is honestly worth a buck by itself.

One of my favorite Tackle Hack Shops , I do the same for ice , Savin 300$ on ice means 300$ more bait, Fuel, whatever ,, those beads are about 5$ for maybe 20 , you Can buy 250 for 1$ , Seriously 🤪 , it's a no brainer , Budget Fishin 🎣 , Good Stuff Simple Effective And Fun , Keep It Reelin 🐟🎣👀😁

Pool noodle I use to hang up on my lures after I’ve switched them out. Especially after it’s been in saltwater, I rinse them out and let them hang dry that way

All about spending money for value not for luxury (brand names). I've done most of what you talked about here. But I did lose a bucket because of a rusted, weak carabiner, so I sprung for the home depot ones and the strength and longevity of them has eased my mind! Anyways, great content as always!

Yep dollar tree is my favorite store. Easy to spend 50+$ at a time and a couple times a month even. Think it was February when every thing went up to $1.25. That's a 20% increase. Don't think it is because of shortage because they said back in November 2021 there would be a price increase to $1.25 supposedly January 2022.

For my water carrier I use the wine bladders ,fist I enjoy the wine then I wash the bladder our and fill with ice water in summer, then when empty it folds up small then gets put in the bilge of my kayak. Hope this idea helps. Regards Richard Weir in Australia

Great video JC! I need watch this video a few more times, then make my dollar tree/dollar store list. Honestly though do the frozen water bottles work as well as ice for keeping fish and stuff cold? My FIL does this alot, and he doesn't even fish.

Thanks for watching. The frozen water bottles don't melt as fast as bagged ice because they are more like block ice. They keep the fish cold enough to not spoil and that's all that matters. The fish only have to be kept at a refrigerator temp to not spoil. I'm sure bagged chipped ice keeps the fish colder, if there's plenty of it, because you can pack the fish in it. The same is true for anything put in a cooler with plenty of bagged is surrounding it. When I go to Daytona and stay for three or for days in a hotel, I load my coolers with the frozen water bottles and I also have larger plastic containers that I freeze yielding big hunks of block ice. I don't own an expensive yety, but my coleman cooler will keep the fish fillets I've caught in good shape for three to four days and then I have to buy some bagged ice for the ride home.

I can't think of almost any of that that wouldn't be around the house, the boat, or in the camping gear. I just moved to Florida. And found out that I can't let my trotline soak, and fish overnight.
