When we took Amtrak last year, in May that trailer accross the way, is a coffee shop and the coffee there was really good. Next time you go on Amtrak or if anyone takes Amtrak and stops there in Minot, go to the coffee shop while you can, cause that stop you get a hour, so you will have enough time to walk over there and get a coffee and walk back. I highly recommend it.

Traveling on Amtrak going cross country is a wonderful experience. I took the Empire Builder from NY to Portland which was quite fun. Music and snacks made the adventure so much better. I think all they need to do is update their fleet and I would take it every year… I stayed in the observation cart all day lol

I still have yet to see an observation cart. That sounds nice. I hope to one day and if they upgraded the trains that would be incredible they need it a bit to be honest

I did the NYC to ATL roomette thing in January. Loved it. It's a thoughtful, beautiful space and I will definitely do it again. Our car attendant was an absolute treasure. Everyone needs to do this!!!

Traveling by train is such a beautiful and peaceful experience especially if you can travel in the rooms on the Amtrak its pure leisure bliss and the views are so relaxing you get to see so much and its fun to wave at people as you go by. The only downside is sometimes the passenger trains have to wait long wait times stalled to wait for a cargo train to pass by. If the Amtrak were to prioritize passenger trains first it would definitely be a game changer.

Wish I could travel instead of working all the time with no vacation. I fantasize about driving away with my dogs and seeing new places. This video is so nice. Very relaxing.

A couple of years ago I watched Alec from Technology connections doing a train ride and he was on the bottom floor, it's surprising how much difference there is in the height of the rooms. Here in the UK we have overnight/ sleeper trains but they're nothing compared to that. Nice relaxing video. 🙂👍

I'm planning to make this journey myself in December :D travelling all the way from Philadelphia to Seattle via Chicago. It's so exciting and it feels like a once in a lifetime experience

I rode that train back in 2008. I hate that the Portlanders get the lounge car but that means the Seattle half gets the good food so TAKE THAT!!!!

I watched your Alaska Highway Car Ferry video first then this one as this trip is on my bucket list. We did an Alaskan cruise last year and it was great but this trip setup seems awesome. We'll be taking the train and walking everywhere as well so it's good to see how close things are.

I’ve ridden the California Zyphr from Emeryville to Chicago, and then the Lakeshore Limited from Chicago to Boston; it was an amazing trip! Watching this makes me want to take another rail journey.

Yes, please show more videos like this.. I used to ride a bus up from Washington State University to Spokane Wa, in my college days in the mid 1980's. Then I would take the Empire Builder to Seattle, and take the Metro bus to my Mom's home. I have taken short hops on Washington State trains in my youth and now that I on the East Coast, I enjoy this and other's KZfaq train Travel. Thanks for a great scenic and informative video. I just subscribed too! 😎

I like your owl. 🦉 A Barn Owl with the face of a flower? One night going to my Mom's house in the country, I had to go down a long empty stretch of road with nothing around. (A old abandoned dairy farm.) It was so dark you had to use your bright lights. As I came around a corner there was something in the middle of the road. I thought it was the biggest gopher I'd ever seen. Slowed down and stopped. It was a HUGE Great Horned Owl inches from my car door. He was blinded by the car lights and stood for a few seconds and then swooped away silently. WOW ! 😯

I love your videoes. I did cross country last October from LA in roomette to San Fran...then to Chicago on Calif Zephyr in a family room with windows on both sides..then Chicago to DC in a roomette on Capitol Limited...trip was 1st week in Oct. Roomettes were perfect for me traveling solo...so peaceful...and a blessing to have the family room on the Zephyr that I invited my roomette neighbors in to hang out and get to know each other...best trip ever on Zephyr...views breathing, food seriously yummy, staff great and people I met on the train topped off a perfect and unforgettable trip.

This was an excellent video. It was very informative and entertaining. Amtrak is overdue for upgrading its accomodations which are old and not clean. The help tries their best, the food is fine, but the trains are slow.

That tunnel transported you from eastern Washington to western Washington. Western Washington is greener due to the oceanic air. The cascade mountains block that same air and deep eastern more desert like. Also colder

Good video. If I were to take a train ride again, that's how I'd do it. It has been nearly forty years since I took a long train trip, when my daughter was 2 1/2. She kept going into the washroom to play with the water faucets. It's hard to keep a toddler entertained on a long ride. Yes, Washington state is beautiful, like BC where I live. I love going through the mountains by car, when someone else is driving, so that I can relax and look at the view.

I also grew up in Michigan!! I've been an Actor for 20yrs!!! Worked for Eminem in music videos and played a LAPD cop in The Island movie for Michael Bay/ Spielberg we shot it in Detroit!!! Rode Empire Builder 10/22 Chi to Whitefish, Mt. Same return back to Chi. Amtrak Vacations does a good job handling train, hotel & car rental. Rode City of New Orleans Memphis to Chicago & back to board Empire. Excellent staff all the way, good food, helpful riders as well to a senior couple. Costly but reasonable ,view our beautiful country no other way. A bucket list to take.

The Ann Arbor Amtrak is so close to where I live in Michigan and I've never been there! I really want to travel more after seeing all of your videos..Just wish I was in a better financial place to be able to live life and explore more! I'll keep living vicariously through you though! Love the videos, they are a real help to combat the depression of every day life.
