Hi! I’m a Behavior Analyst and I think Daryl hit the nail on the head about the downward dog. I hypothesize that the function of going into the pose is attention. If he gets high-affect verbal praise every time he goes into dog ward dog, he will learn to do that whenever he wants that kind of attention. When he’s meeting new people, he might be feeling anxious/nervous/shy and is relying on that pose knowing your “reaction” will make him feel good :)

Funniest advice I was told was “You’ll spend the first 3 years teaching your child how to walk and talk, and the next 17 telling them to sit down and shut up!” The only advice I have is to remember that you and your partner will have had different childhoods, raised differently, so choose the best (what you felt was good) from both of yours and communicate that to make your own! There’s truly no manual. By the time you get to #3 you’ll feel like a pro! Truly happy for you and your precious family 💞 As for Ryan, you do you boo!! I was married, had the house, kids, boat, dog, and realized I was definitely with the wrong person. Got divorced and we are better co-parents than parents. Met Rick, told me up front he never wanted kids, let him know great, I donated my baby parts to science. He said, but I love you and your kids. We’ve been married for almost 17 years now. Wouldn’t change a thing! 💗

My daughter was exactly like this. We got glasses. We did everything but by 5 the vision was gone. The left eye no longer works. Only the right eye works. But at 17 she is doing great. We caught it early but it still was to late. We had 2 surgeries to fix the cross eyes. But it didn’t work. But she is great doing well. She uses the good eye for everything. Glasses they help to straighten her eyes. Best of luck.

I was a Peds nurse. New amazing machine allowed us to start testing at 1 yr old. We were able to catch visual impairments so much sooner. It’s a game changer.

All I have to say is don't forget YOU are the parents and YOU get to make the rules. As long as you're making decisions together as a team, you're making the right decision.

My son is 5 now with autism but a lot of the traits remind me of your baby. It’s not a negative thing, I love my son but I would start doing speech therapy early if that’s the case. It does wonders and sign language was my sons first language to get him talking and now he talks all the time! Sending positive vibes your way!

Me being 32, single, and I have yet to have any children and then hearing Daryl calling me geriatric 🥲 but for real I have the same mindset as Ryan. And I’m the fun aunt. If it happens one day it happens but I’m enjoying my time alone and my self care routine. Also I’m one of the fans of Tarot (pronounced tear-o) that Ryan mentioned, I hope we get an all things kind of witchy and tarot-y episode, I would love that!

Same here. I'm 32 and single. I want kids. I want to get married. I want it all. Hearing him call us geriatic is funny. That's what society has instilled with us. I used to think this age was "old" when I was younger. Luckily people are having kids at so many ages. I'm not worried. I'm just waiting for it to happen.

@@mione134 Technically, a woman is only geriatric once they are past the age of 35, cause that is when the egg production slows down dramatically. I was a geriatric baby since my Mum had me at the age of 36.

34:02 Honestly, especially after hearing Jeanette McCurdy, I am actually SO GLAD to hear that Daryl had a teacher that asked him if he wanted to stay at school or work and framed in a way that's appropriate and friendly for children by asking, "Don't you want to be with your friends" or whatever it was along those lines. Children cannot advocate for themselves and children being forced to work in acting or modelling can be and has been absolutely detrimental for a ton of kids (hence the whole "child star" phenomena of a lot of them growing up and going down the tubes. Daryl is of course a success story and he had a lot of support and enjoyed his childhood career but a ton of kids, even when they don't want to, have no adult to turn to if their parents and management want to keep them acting. Just because someone had a good experience does not mean it was the same for everybody. So I actually think it was the exact opposite of being manipulative, as Meghan said, but a moment where a teacher gave a student a moment to speak for himself. Daryl is happy with his decision and that's good! That moment with the teacher was just a great look at people treating children as the actual PEOPLE that they are, that have their own rights (and are not property of their parents), but need adults who can and will protect and advocate for them. Just wanted to say that

Okay this is totally off subject but I didn't know how I recognize your husband until I Googled his Wikipedia and realized he was one of my favorite characters in the Spy Kids movies. I just want to say y'all two are so adorable. Now on to what the video is about I just want you to know like I have watched several of your videos and I actually just found your family's podcast like 2 days ago. So just so you know I'm binge watching to catch up. I'm really happy to see the way you and your brother just feed off of each other even if y'all are kind of talking about something that might be slightly on the negative side y'all are so positive about it and that's just so amazing. Most people tell me I'm naturally a positive person myself. I've been told sometimes I'm a little too positive. However now that I'm going to be 40 in November of this year I have actually been learning a lot about myself through watching podcasts like yours and learning about what ADHD actually is which is what I have. I'm actually learning a lot about myself and the things that I have been blessed with to utilize everything to the best of my abilities a lot better than what I should have done when I was younger. So just keep doing the things that y'all are doing I'll keep watching y'all I'll keep learning cuz there's always room to improve. Stay positive always and be blessed. PS Tell Ryan that I will be praying for his Marathon for November 7th my birthday is November 19th I'll be 40 and my daughter's birthday is November 28th and she'll be 15 so there's a lot of November birthdays that are going to be praying for him to be able to complete his goal for his Marathon for November 7th. Okay enough with the novel you'll have a blessed day!! :-)

I’m a retired teacher and I can’t stand when teachers get upset about things that children have no control over. If a first grader is frequently late for school, it’s not his/her fault. Talk with the parents. Darryl liked auditions, but if he didn’t, he couldn’t change the situation. Again, the conversation should be with the parents. I had students who missed a lot of school because they were needed to tend younger children while the parents worked. The students couldn’t change the situation, so being upset with them and making them feel awful doesn’t accomplish anything. 🙄😖. Sorry for the rant. Love this episode.

You should make sure to get all of the daycare licenses and homeschool licenses once you hit age 5. If you want a great story, watch Rory Feel’s KZfaq channel about the community school he created for his daughter Indiana and other area children. I think his vision might transform what you can imagine as possible for Riley. What about religion? Have you decided denominations, etc and comparative religions?

I have 12 nieces and nephews. Some of the nephews are wild like I was. I feed them chocolate and take them home. What can I say, my little sister was a brat. This is my revenge. I am closest to about 6 of them so those will be my elderly caretakers later in life. So Ryan, bond with Meghan's kids. Its like having your own but you can go to your room and thank God once they turn into little terrors. 🤣
