► FAQ
Q• Why are you uploading cruising videos and renovation videos at the same time.
A• As of October 2021 we have finished our journey to visit every waterway on the connected system but we still have a back lock of videos to edit. For this reason we are uploading a cruising video each week till we finish the journey. In November 2021 we started a project to renovate our Narrowboat and as there was a lot of interest in is filming this we decided to alternate the renovations with the old cruising videos. We also aim to get one renovation video up each week until the cruising videos are finished.
Q• Why do you speed up some of the footage in your videos?
A• We don't, we film it as time-lapse footage. We do not have the battery capacity or data storage to film in real time as our cruises can last up to 7 or 8 hours. We use to the time-lapse footage to help tell the story of movement rather than showcase the scenery. We limit the amount of time-lapse shots we use in each vlog.
Q• Why are your video's so behind?
A• We would love to release all our video's in the same week that we film them but that isn't possible for us. Jo only really has the capacity to edit two video's per week and as we make a video for each cruise that we do and we some times cruise 3 or 4 or 5 times a week we inevitably get behind. We fit in the vlogs around our lives not the other way round.

I have spent the last few days watching most of your vlogs. What a fascinating couple you are. Without doubt my wife and I would love to meet you for a meal and a long chat but your life and ours mean geography will keep us from achieving a meet. We live now on the Jurassic Coast although we do visit many parts of the u.k. and own a small home also in the Midlands. I have now purchased your book young lady so will learn more about you both. Stay safe and have many Happy Days. Love, Tony and Maureen.

The heron take-off was pretty amazing. I've seen seagulls do that in the strong steady sea breeze of my old hometown, but they're not nearly as big as herons and they're not surrounded by trees on the beach.

Shorts are, indeed, shorts, but pants are underwear and not trousers except that lady's trousers are called pants ... oh, it's complicated!!! It was possibly Bernard Shaw who penned that America and Britain are "Two nations divided by a common language." Having grown up in England but now lived in Canada for several decades, I commiserate with Michael as I can remember the differing words for both sides of the Atlantic, but all too often fail to remember which belongs where! Great video as always!

Don’t believe all you read on the internet 😀 We have lived in the area for 15+ years (my wife worked in the hospital ) , we have friends who have lived in Godmanchester for 10+ years. As others have said, No one pronounces it Gumster, everyone says It as written. Anyway , loving seeing the videos of our local patch., so thanks for the latest update We have just had an offer accepted on a Narrowboat , and will hopefully have it over her in a few months

Your attempts to get the vlog started were lovely! Cheered me up no end! Oh, I have friends in Godmanchester and I don't think I've ever heard it called "Gumster". And that pronunciation is not in the BBC Pronouncing Dictionary of British Names, which is generally pretty good at including the unlikely pronunciations of names like Godmanchester.

Perhaps it's only known as Gumster to locals of the older generation, but I really think it's a myth. Unlike Stiffkey in Norfolk, Stookey to locals. Does anyone still say Hunston for Hunstanton?

I'm pretty sure Jo restrained herself and didn't kill Michael. Unless she found a doppelganger to remodel the boat. I should ask. Probably the hauling-George-out-of-the-water skills are enough to keep him around. Good to know that you're still capable of coming up with some bloopers to keep us entertained.

I'm always tempted to hit the emergency stop, too. There was this one time in... uh... either a mechanics course or a welding course where they had really big emergency stop buttons on the walls. I successfully resisted the temptation, only to accidentally lean back against one in the middle of a lecture/demonstration. XD

I used to live near a heronry, and I never saw such a brilliant vertical take-off manoeuvre. Usually much more of a lurch. Hemingford Grey, home of Lucy Boston and her spooky/mysterious Green Knowe books and characters. I visited her beautiful garden some years ago, complete with a tiny door leading under the topiary. Apparently the Manor had originally been built in 1130 - crikey!
