Posting a community poll on your channel can be a good way to figure out what more of your viewers think. Most people won’t write a comment but many will click a choice on a poll

This feels so much better! Dave is back and we learn some names of the new people and we get a better feel for the land by looking at the new map. I just want to say (I'm sure you have been told many times before) that all the criticism that popped up after the latest videos was done by people who LOVE what you are doing and are therefore super-invested in your channel. I think it shows for a great mentality that you were able to incorporate all the thoughts of your viewers in such a short time. I really enjoyed watching this!

Fully agree with your comment. This video feels more similar to what a lot of us enjoyed about last season. Having less b roll and more interview style/computer screen footage was what was missing for me for a few videos but I felt like I got those things back here. My only personal suggestions for further improvements are less rock music and more of that upbeat country we’ve seen before, and as most others are saying, more Dave. Really looking forward to Year 2 & 3 of this project.

For the chainsaw, buy or arrange a chain sharpener. Also pay attention to the chain tension otherwise the chain may run off the bar. And please wear saw pants when using the saw, if you slip, a ride to the ER will take a very long time.

Yes, I think some general chainsaw training would be good. In one of the scenes the chainsaw bar got pinched in the wood. This can be avoided, for example.
@stephenperry152

Agreed, that made me cringe being ex forestry. A good pair of chaps, ear muffs, steel cap boots, hard hat and visor are well worth the investment.

A sharp saw is a safe saw. The effort involved in forcing a dull saw (with loose tension) makes the user more vulnerable to injury. Take care of your tools and the tools will take care of you.

@@tonywhitley6929 I agree completely...problem is that they do not have anybody to teach how to sharpen it...it needs practice....

I would like to second the idea! maybe just put it on your staff list: someone who can use a chainsaw properly and safe :) I mean it seems ok, but guys chainsaws are extremely dangerous! For example, around 2:30 that branch should have been cut from the bottom up, so the blade/chain does not get pinched by the wood.

People just need to understand that it takes time to develop a new videoformat. In the tv-world it takes months of testing, re-editing, re-writing to find the perfect flow and storytelling style for a new programme. In Project Kamp's case the video developing phase is basically public, so people shouldn't freak out yet. In my opinion it is definitely getting better with each update. For me a little less beautyshot scenes and a bit more story and developing would be preferable. But like Dave said, you can't make it perfect for everyone. Good busy!

I've seen the chainsaw getting a bit stuck while cutting the mimosa. When you have a branch hanging on the air, cut it from the bottom to top, otherwise when the chain gets almost down the branch will grab it. Like others said, sharpening and buying safety gear is a must. I've binge watched the whole playlist for the past few days and I loved it. Keep it going like that. As a portuguese, I'm glad that a project like this with that variety of nationalities and great people is taking place here in Portugal!

I like the evolution of the project including the video style changes. My only input re videography is that your older videos were entertaining documentaries and felt denser in content ( in a good way), where as the new ones have lost informational content in favour of atmospheric cinematic musings on a romanticised version of life in project camp. I have felt that a 20 minute video could have been half that and had the same info in them. Keep up the good work hope this helps 🙏

I believe previous episodes felt a little bit far because since it has changed a lot in the Kamp, we didnt know the people and the system but as we got familiar it become much more relatable. Thanks Dave, Thanks Felix for letting us know this important project. I wish luck all the people out there. Greetings from Turkey!

I subscribed when you had less than 10k subscribers. I'm delighted by the project's progression, and the growth of your Chanel. I will continue to watch, because you, and your project, are both interesting, and relatable. Thank you for sharing.

Highlights: 1. I love the video of the pup, really reminds me that its not just all work, there relaxation being had, obviously not just by the dog, but it refocuses the mind to not just stuff getting done, but enjoyment being had. 2. I love that you include different peoplr, I wish I could be involved somehow and maybe down the road my wife and ai will have an opportunity to support. But in the videos, you include everyone - everyone has value, people matter. 3. Respect to Nature, tree and shrubs need to be cleared - but you guys are tearing everything down and that is important. i love you are looking out for what is best for the balance of it all. 4. Weather - it happens, but even on the stormy days, you are all actively doing something - not lazy. maybe relaxing but moreso enjoying. 5. upcycling the table is exciting to see. keep it up. drawbacks: 1. there are still a few points when the volume changes and you can hear what is happening, in these times its be a great place to cut the noise and replace it with music. 2. the graphics were terrible for the map - the point is made - but a better version would be great even if briefly. in the end its fine not to get it, but hopefully we see a part two with the better qaulity version, a diorama would be neat but obviously not needed lol. 3. more insight as to how us normal people can help. prayer, funds, what?

I like the new style and as the Kamp scales and you have more parallel projects it's only logical you can't be everywhere at once to film it AND edit it AND still do other projects on your own. Soon you will have so much content that you won't need to take a season Break in winter anymore. Anyway, super impressed with what you guys are doing and I hope it lays the groundwork to serve as an example for many others. On one hand I'd love to join but on the other I'm to weak to go vegan :P and besides I have my own Kamp to manage here with my wife and newborn daughter. Greetings from Belgium!

I think Felix is an important addition to your group and the channel. 👏 I also think that this week's episode is more coherent (easier to watch) than S2, E 1&2 with less jump and focused shots. But it is always going to be a challenge to document everything going on. All the more so with a bigger crew and multiple projects on the land happening concurrently. Thank you for making the effort to share your adventures with all of us on KZfaq.

Thank you all for being transparent and for valuing our feedback. Dave is nice to see you again, even if Felix is doing the new videos you shouldn't disappear from them ;) This episode was really nice, coming back for the old type of straightforward videos, that in my opinion, I enjoy the most because i felt more into the project and learning better. I felt we jumped some informations in the previous ones and that the videos could be a bit shorter (some plans are too long and repetitive). It would also be nice to share a bit more information of how you organize yourselves, what are your names, where you came from, what's the role in the project, background,... Changes are necessary and we are happy to see you growth, so keep going :)

Variety is a spice for life. The format last season was good, but I trying new formats and approaches to see what works is a good idea, which I applaud. I'm sure all the new people will get more comfortable and confident in front of the camera with a bit of time and patience, just like you did. BTW the chain on your chainsaw needs sharpening, it is quiet easy skill to learn.

it would be nice to have more detail captured from the inside (even if the videos are longer with less editing it's fine, like in the old days), but what was interesting about season 1 was the foreground presence in the field, which is missing a bit in season 2 by giving more space to footage of the dog

It's good to see you've finally got (or almost got) a good height map, so you can look at opportunities for rainwater capture, and hopefully some upper level ponds that can gravity feed water for use in fire events, droughts, etc. It's really the basis of land management in general. As to the video style, I like that there's more of a feel for what life at Kamp is like, and the trend towards more explanation of what people are actually doing and why they're doing it is positive. I was especially happy with the music in the bit where they were sanding the tables. I'm from rural east coast Canada originally, and that's very much fiddle country, often with piano accompaniment, so it's really good to hear that sort of music here.

I am a waste, sanitation and renewable energy expert and I love your green field projects. I guess wood will be a major energy source, and I recommend rocket stoves so you can utilize small branches for cooking. If you want to increase fertility of soil with biochar can look at Kontiki kiln. I also recommend black and grey water separation, using garden as grey water drainage, and replace your compost toilet with a Biogas digester for all your organic waste and black water. This can produce enough cooking gas. If your solar PV has batteries, highly recommend you convert the top pond into a reservoir and pipe the water to the lowest point and run a small hydro turbine that can be turned on to charge your battery for the winter when there is less sun. You can also look into Genoa Sterling , for small sterling engines that can run on burning wood, but that is very exotic. From your video my first assessment is there is enough waste wood on the property to sustain your cooking needs for two years before you need to start harvesting trees, but it will not last forever, especially if you start to utilize the two ruins. Solar and hydro plus good battery storage on site will be sufficient for future expansions but you will need to relive on biogas for cooking gas in the future. Can look into growing some cash crop and energy crop mix and taking waste agriculture products from neighbors to feed your digester.

The cinematography looks really good for as remote and rustic as your site is! The introduction of the Kamp volunteers was also refreshing as it highlights who they are, and what they are bringing to the project. As for housing/scalability, have you considered using surplus Army A-frame/GP Medium tents? They are very rugged, can house 8-10 people, and extremely adaptable to whatever your needs may be.

I personally don't think people should be getting emotional in the comments and being so direct in telling you what you should be doing like they did in the first of this season. It is up to you as Project Kamp to feel your way through it, you are a bunch of intelligent people after all. I wish you all the luck in the world.

Great new vidwo. Felix is a superb videographer. If i might make a suggestion? Put a little name overlay on each person that is presenting at that time. So people get to learn names, especially new viewers have haven't been watching since Ep1, its an easy in for people. But great job everyone! Love these little weekly movies.

Let your chainsaw do the work! The saw has teeth on the body that engage the log using the point of the teeth as a fulcrun allow the weight of the saw to draw the blade thru the wood.

I love all the videos the same, thanks for taking the time to make them. You will never make every one happy, just do and experiment with what makes you all feel good and happy. In the end the positive vibes will win. 💪😀😎😉

as an ex-painter I would say this, wear a mask when sanding...always. You have no idea what toxic crap is being released into the air - even outside. stay well, you are doing an amazing job.
