Inspired by Dr. Elaine Aron's best-selling book, The Highly Sensitive Person, discover the 26 characteristics of being highly sensitive and learn 19 ways to ensure you can thrive to your fullest potential.
In this week's Petit Plaisir, Shannon shares one of her favorite podcasts to listen to while relaxing and traveling: The Splendid Table.
The SImple Sophisticate, episode #44
~The Show Notes - www.thesimplyl...
The simple sophisticate is someone who prefers quality over quantity, sensible living over mindless consumption, personal style instead of trendy fashions, has an insatiable curiosity for life’s endless questions and a desire to live a truly fulfilling life rather than being led around by the nose. Inspired by her lifestyle blog The Simply Luxurious Life, Shannon Ables (the original Simple Sophisticate) shares with listeners tips on how to live a refined life on an everyday income. From achieving your goals, preparing a memorable meal, creating a capsule wardrobe, traveling the world (Francophiles tune in as Paris is a favorite destination), and living life to the fullest without breaking the bank, living well is really quite simple.

It's great! loved it! I've just found out that I am HSP extrovert at the age of 54. and ADHDer at 40. So liberating undestanding myself at last! tks

I know exactly the liberation you are feeling. It does feel like now I can breathe and just be me without thinking something must be wrong. Nope! We're just wired differently and now that we know how we are wired, we can live up to our fullest potential. Thank you for tuning in. Have a lovely week.

Doesn't it feel wonderful to explode out of the chrystallis phase and realize that you are, in fact, a beautiful butterfly?!!..... Sending light and love to you on your journey, Jackie!

When I finally learned about HSP, I was so happy to finally understand why I was different, I wept. As I learn more and more about it, I have less anxiety and depression and am learning what to avoid and how to deal with it.

I've had the book for years. Every time I get it out, though, I end up in tears because of how much different my life could have been if I'd had the knowledge from my childhood.

Elizabeth, Thank you for sharing. I too felt a significant pang of relief, but also longing for knowing this information sooner. It would have helped immensely. But the good news is that we have it now and we can move forward with more confidence and contentment respecting our unique gift and sharing it in a way only we can. Have a wonderful holiday season and may 2020 be truly memorable. xoxo

Absolutely amazingly accurate, 100 percent me, I feel finally validated and EVERYTHING now makes sense! BTW, I have 63 years of being told I'm not good enough, and don't fit in,(except for my parents), who always said I was gifted, and could do anything I set my hand to.I am on a very recent journey of discovery of who I am and Thank you very much for yet another puzzle piece.BTW, I'm male, HSP, INFJ, 140 IQ, perfectionist, master Craftsman, artist and generally messed up lol.

No as a teacher I suffer. I see students behaviours and how they don’t care or don’t respect or appreciate lots of works underlying each lecture and that really makes me deeply sad. Yet I can’t be anything but kind and .... whereas my colleagues r just serious and don’t care and never suffer like me

Highly sensitive people have larger aura fields making them more open to external energies from people . It helps to have a spiritual practice native smudging, or christian prayers, or white light protection or some thing like that done on a daily basis to cleanse aura

Great video..thanks , much appreciated! .I'm a true HSP but I've also been co-dependent for most of my life and am now in therapy also for CPTSD but there's a contradiction here! I think most of us, including myself wouldn't want to get out there publicly in large crowds like politics to do better for mankind/society! There may be some exceptions to the rule, but this professional artist /musician/composer wouldn't want to ever be in that world of cut throat politics, no way! I worked in NYC as a fashion artist many moons ago and I'm amazed that I could handle those crowds of people and those subways and then i moved out to the countryside and commuted into NYC! I never could take LOUD CROWDED rock concerts and to this day I wouldn't go to one! I love my peace and quiet now after being married for 42 years to a real crazymaker, Dr. Jekyll/Mr Hyde malignant NARC and raising three daughters while working part time as a floral designer and partially raising our oldest granddaughter, one of two granddaughters! I LOVE being single again and enjoying my creativity with NO INTERRUPTIONS! Peace, love and namaste~
