The version of "All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros" shown off in this video is not the original FDS version converted to an NES rom, it is a remake by YY. The physics in the original version are the same as The Lost Levels, while in the remake by YY they are the same as SMB1. The skid sound is also absent in the YY remake as well and in the original version World 8-4 is also from the Lost Levels while in the YY remake, 8-4 is from SMB1.

"Tropical Island" seems to be based on Adventure Island by Hudson Soft for the NES. The hammer suit mimics the tomahawk that the main character threw in Adventure Island.

Very cool. I was just recently thinking of trying a Mario Hacks stream of some kind, and this video gave me a great idea about ones I should check out.

"Plus, it uses Phillips screws, which the originals didn't." Not to sound like the nerd in the room, but there were 5-screw carts, which actually did use Phillips screws, as far as i'm aware. Also, some 5-screw carts apparently have 60 (Famicom) to 72 9NES) pin converters in them. If you have any 5 screw carts, look inside of them.

The Metroid hack should have had Samus turn into her zero suit when she's hit by an enemy, wasted opportunity there. Also surprised the Super Mario World NES demake isn't on the cart.

That's really cool that on that second hack Mario Sprite is the one from Super Mario Land 2. That Yoshi one looked quite interesting as Yoshi Sprite is based off of Yoshi's cookie and I could tell if the music was an 8-bit rendition of the main theme from Yoshi's story. The 26th hack you mentioned was pretty awesome to considering that they included some elements from Super Mario Land 2 and even included the underground theme from the first Super Mario Land. I also like that one of the ROM hacks had the castle music from new Super Mario Bros DS

Man, that Ridley X hack of SMB 2 always gets me cuz of the name that I always use for everything, even here. But coincidental name aside, I like this video! Always been a fan of hack compilations like this! Also, be sure not to burn yourself out with that stuff. I know the feel of being sick of many hacks back to back. XD

I actually own Cartridge ports for Mario Adventure and Mario 3 Mix, they're such fantastic games that feel right at home on the main console.

I used to play a NES emulator cd rom in my PlayStation and l remember a smb hack with a super Mario world shape. The colors were beautiful and the enemies, blocks, and items, looked exactly like Mario World. I couldnt find anything about this rom, but it would be great taking a look.

The Mario artwork on the cover is actually the drawing used on the late 80s early 90s Mario Toybox. The image is actually Luigi recolored with an M on his hat... because back then, Luigi and Mario didn't have a separate identity other then their color to distinguish which player's turn it was in the original game.

"The Forgotten Dream" is a really challenging SMB2 hack that changed up all the levels and you can play as Yoshi instead of Luigi. Pretty cool one I tried as a kid. This vids old but I thought I'd suggest it Also thank you for bringing me nostalgia with EDS Bros, I loved that one

5 screw Phillips were the first games people would rent and swap the insides of cart so three special screw became the standard.

The music track in Toadette's Christmas Adventure Hack at 16:37 is called Aozora and it's from anime / visual novel "Air" KEKW

A fairly easy way to check if its the original all night nipon is this, play the luigi game, he should be in his outfit and have his super Mario bros 2 japan control physics (jumps higher, takes longer to stop running). As far as I'm aware though I don't think there was a proper conversion of all night nipon but simply rom hacks designed to look like the original. Super Mario Bros 2 however was properly converted a few years ago, there were earlier glitchier efforts and straight up rom hacks for that one as well though.

I would love to see you tackle Game Genie codes for Super Mario Allstars. Further, I would truly love some Sega Genesis Game Genie codes. Sonic going ape shit would be great!
