DeWalt launched two brand new rivet tools for handling blind rivets from 1/8" up to 1/4" in diameter. Two different models: the DCF403D1 includes the rivet tool with 2,100 lbs of pulling force, 2Ah 20V battery, and a charger; the DCF414GE2 includes the rivet tool with 4500 lbs of pulling force, two 20V 1.7Ah PowerStack batteries, and the charger. I’ve got a pneumatic riveter that I used to use the heck out of, but since the brand I work for mostly switched to bolts I don’t use it anymore. Thought I was mostly done with rivets forever until a week or so ago when they launched a new campaign (recall? honestly can’t remember which) where we need to drill a few holes and install a few rivets. I haven’t seen the rivets in person yet, and they only list a part number on the documentation, but in the pictures they look to be at least 1/4” rivets. I believe they said the “locally sourced” riveter needs to have a minimal pulling force of 5,500 pounds. I’m guessing that’s pretty darn high based on this video.

I do decorative sheet metal work, we use 1/8" rivets every day. Sometimes several hundred rivets in a day and i used to do them all by hand until i found the milwaukee rivet gun. I was bummed to see dewalt didnt have one out at the time since we use dewalt at our shop. I went ahead and got the milwaukee and its been awesome, really saves a guys hand lol. But the catch for the rivet stems gets loose and falls off all the time and fills up kinda fast so it ends up just getting left off. The dewalt stem catch looks much more promising. Im looking forward to trying it out, and ill be able to swich batteries between it and the drills which will be sweet.

Hi sir. I have Dewalt DCF414GE2 i'm just wondering why is it I can only use the big Blind Rivet like (3/16"x1/2") - (1/4"x1/2") while the small i cannot use it like the (3/32"x1/4") - (3/16"x5/16) the nose tip is for big Blind rivet only they didn't include for the small Blind Rivet. Do have an idea where to buy the small nose tip so i can u the small blind rivet. Thank you

that thing says 1/4 rivet i want to see it do a 1/4 inch Huck rivet. they are Tuff i have a pneumatic and it has a hell of a time staying together i blew though 4 of them building my trailer. same blind rivits they use for Airplanes. Mil spec. my gun is also 4500lbs

I have the M12 rivet tool, and it is a little awkward, but does what both those do, in one tool? It has 4 different collets that just screw in the head, depending on the rivet size you need? They are all stored on the tool well? It only has like 2000 lbs. of pulling force, but that is way faster and easier than by hand, and the M12 is an angled head design, so it will fit in places, neither of the Dewalt's will? It will do 1/8" to 1/4" rivets, so I'm very satisfied with the smaller and lighter M12? Just an honest opinion from a real owner of a tool? Thanks for your great reviews, sir.

The m12 does not do 1/4". Up to 3/16". The m18 one does 1/4" tho. Now my question is if you put a 1/4" nose on the 3/16" model will it work? With how easily it pulls 3/16" it jus seems like why cant it do 1/4"? Unless they physically made sure the stem jus won't fit. I even have a drill adapter 1 that will do 1/4" and its like no problem power wise. I jus dont understand why 1/4" riveters are so expensive. I would pay 3/16" version price but with 1/4" capability cuz i need that

The m12 is really slow and underpowered compared to these two, yes it’s small but take the back these and it’ll be a couple inches difference in size. I haven’t tried the Milwalkie 18v version but it’ll prob be on par with this two in power and size .
