Spinning some laps with my yamaha yfz450 powered 2008 Paul Tracy shifter kart. It's ridiculously fast and a serious rush to drive. Camera shuts off so I didn't get the last part of the session. I wasn't wearing gloves, get over it!! Maybe the 2nd time I drove it on a sprint track. It's been years, maybe I didn't have any can't remember. No it's not sped up, you wanna race bring $

that's amazing, I wonder if I'd be fast enough to race in any pro league.. I did kart racing as a kid and I was usually the fastest. However as an adult I find myself either too broke or too clueless to know which platform would provide me with the greatest opportunity as a racer. I live in saint paul minnesota. now I'm gonna watch formula atlantic to see what the hell that must have been like.. never watched it before.. You have my utmost respect having been a pro that said! thanks for sharing Pat

Excellent combination of track knowledge, and kart capability. The passes were nicely executed, and at the same time knowing when and where to pass safely when encountering lap traffic. Nice driving sir!

the dd2 on a small track is awesome I have one and a Kz2 + a R3 shifter kart but the dd2 is so much quicker around a small track great kart.

from the glimpses at the valve cover my guess is that that was a Yamaha wr or yz 450 motor that had been squeezed into that cart frame, sweet power to weight ratio!

To those who say this is sped up, no it's not. I've ran this track many times and have had Darius pass my in that beast numerous times at Laguna Seca back when they first let the karts get on track there. It was kind of funny to be doing 100+mph and have this wicked 4-stroke come blasting by my stock moto CR125 like I was sitting still! Good times.

You can tell just by how quickly he gets into the seat at the beginning that it is sped up. Watch the video at 75% speed for realtime.

i must compliment, this person clearly has a hell of a driving line, but what i found that impressed me more than anything - the fact that this person had so many chances, to where he could have gone for it , but it would have really caused alot of drama on the track (running off other races off the track and into the dirt or even worse... the wall! it but that means bumpin the inside races out or spining your own self out by being selfish and stupid , greedy and all three of those things dont apply to this guy. had just about the fastest car on the track and just passed by everyone with a smile, leaving em with a surprised look . i would like to know how big the very last packs engines were. they were pretty good , even with their slower karts

Johnny Miller thanks Johnny. If it was a race I would have for sure passed them way before that. Kart racing is very aggressive. I raced for a couple years, they bump the shit out of you!

Agreed. Great driving line, nice linear steering (no frantic back and forth corrections), and MANY times hanging out the rear end with no drama. All while showing some respectful restraint. He only went to pass when it was clearly safe. This guy has obviously spent some time on a race track. Awesome video!! Make MORE with this kart!

Most of the tracks we run - New Castle Indiana, Millville N.J. , Englishtown N.J. won't let you run a 450 on them. Damn that is cool.

Great driving and speed. Very nice. Although, I can't help but comment on your layout; Your "flat-bottom" steering wheel is a little off, and I bet you could increase your lap times if you installed paddle shifter's rather than that "lever action thingy".

Let me pick your brain a little bit I'm building a cart with a yz426f Yamaha motor what gears are you running there's 14 teeth on the motor and axle came with 28 teeth but I have to get a sprocket 520 for the axle any recommendation

Yeah, I agree! I was racing a Suzuki RM250 grass kart a while back. We weren't allowed on the track without gloves - even for a practice session. On a tarmac track, I wouldn't even get in the kart until I had gloves on!!

If you really crash a kart gloves are the least of your worries. You flip and break your collar bone, or neck! \

Crashes can happen in slow parts of the track too, where you won't break things. You may come out and have your hands scrape on the track, or burnt on a hot exhaust - both of which are a lot less painful if you're wearing gloves!! It's just a no-brainer - always wear gloves and helmet!

I remember when I was a kid and there were McCullough go-carts that then gave way to Yamaha 100s... I thought how stupid little one speed 100s with no transmissions... why don't they use motorcycle engines with transmissions? Anyways, grew up and didn't really follow go-carting for many decades but just glanced at these videos decades later... hey.. go-carts with motorcycle engines with transmissions. What a great idea. Who thought of that?
