A handmade puzzle box. 30 moves to open the box. Another 16 to open the secret compartment in the base.
If you are interested in commissioning one of these, please feel free to email me at djhoch@gmail.com. For those asking, this particular box is my most complex and intricate and measures 9" x 6" 5". I do sell these, but I don't keep a stock. Each one is made to order. This model starts at $500, depending on options such as wood type and customization (inlays, engraving, etc.)

Stunning work... I'd be tempted to commission one, but I locked my charge card in a 16 step puzzle box to prevent me from doing just such a thing.

Awesome puzzle box. Also like how you let the video speak for it's self, much better than needing to yack through the entire thing.

With the +5 boost to confidence from a cocaine high... The box would be fairly easy to open... Unfortunately by the time you got it open... The cocaine high would have worn off, and there you are dealing with the fear, depression, and self-loathing phase of the high... Hence the reason I never touch that shit... Good luck

I love that it has a hidden compartment in the base in addition to the main compartment. I can't spare $500.00, but would spend it on the complexity of the number of slides and key movements it takes to open it and gain access to the extra compartment. Like other commentators, I would prefer it be made of metal to save a person with no patience or mental acuity from destroying it in order to gain access. Also, you could show off the main compartment to a friend without revealing the hidden second compartment. Cool puzzle box dude!

After having played, "The Room" - I began to wonder if someone had made just such a complex puzzle box. I like the depth on this one - Yet, I can see having less fun with it because of there being no clues in case I get stuck. But then, I haven't solved many of these things - so maybe it's a matter of gaining experience with them first. Also - It feels like a single long sequence of steps to open the box, rather than several sets of smaller sequences that look rather different from each other to make progress on the same box.

Nice "Sarcophagus" ;) Anyways, What wood are you using, Kind of Flexes on the bottom so I'm assuming 1/8 Basswood with a Walnut Veneer? I have been working on Oriental Slider designs and building some and trying to get it right, the Hobby grade works real well for what it is, but been trying to think of a hardwood for the interior sliding pieces thats not to expensive and put the money into the exterior pieces and was going to try Poplar, what woods have been working for you? Maple always seems like a good heavy choice, but is seriously susceptible to bowing even after surfacing :(
@vapulabe
@vapulabe 5 жыл бұрын
This is a design from (now deceased) Bruce Viney. The plans to build it were available on his web site (sadly, the shop is now closed). The original puzzle name is Sarcophagus and you may find the video on how to solve it on Bruce's KZfaq channel (along with the other boxes he designed). It was designed in 2011. Bruce used to create many puzzle boxes, from easy to open to very challenging... this box was one of the most complex to build and to solve... You may still find some of his designs on the website of Bob Hincke (www.bhpenlaser.com/) who had the permission to make laser-cut set for some of the puzzles and sell them along with the plan. He got the OK from the family of Bruce to continue. There are about 140-150 parts to cut for this box, from very simple (square cut, dowel cut to length) to very complex cuts... $500 may seem a little excessive but given the number of part and the time needed for assembly, it is definitely not excessive.
