Our Apollo 125cc ATVs have always been a little hard to start, so rather than just clean or rebuild the original carb I decided to try an upgrade! I found these Nibbi 22mm carbs on Amazon which look to be a Mikuni knockoff and are relatively cheap at less than $50 so I figured I'd give them a shot and so far they haven't disappointed. This particular unit has the same flange as stock making install pretty straightforward except for some slight trimming of the bottom bowl to clear the starter.

My kids thumb wears out pretty quick with the thumb throttle, we added a extender to it. The spring on Nibbi is a little tighter

My buddy has an extender on his Honda 250. The kids seem to be fine with this one, but they both have trouble (and even I do after long rides) with my Polaris 570 with tiring out.

🤔🤷‍♂️ Never messed with jetting it, for my kids ATV it seems pretty good. You’d just want to check what it comes with and mess with going up or down from there.

What about the choke? I didn’t find anything on Amazon about the choke lever

These have a manual choke on top of the carb. I had to remove the original throttle adjuster on the handlebar.

Are there any difference with the stock and the new upgraded carb with preformance? Since I want to upgrade my taotao 125cc Atv for more preformance since the carburetor is underpowered, and not getting the advertised 8.5 horsepower.

Easier to start and seems to run and perform much better. Don’t have any before or after tests to confirm but definitely seems to rev and accelerate better than before. Biggest for us was the old carb was getting hard to start. No issues now

How did you attach the carb with a electric smoke atv? I just bought a nibbi for my 150cc and I’m not sure what to do. Will the electric start still work?

The electric start is unaffected, the electric start just turns the starter motor over. Now if you mean electric choke, these don’t have an electric choke, it’s a cable with slider on the handlebar which won’t work with the new carb, so I removed it off the handlebar and I just manually open the choke on top of the carb when starting.

Yep, can probable remove all the electric choke components if you want

What did you do about the breather hose from the back of the cone filter?

Just disconnected, didn’t put it into my new filter. Can’t remember what it went to, but I think it was just something for emissions. If you wanted you could drill a hole in the new filter and out the barb fitting in it and run it that way

You think is a good idea have the air filter outside like you ate for a Yamaha blaster? I use for the dirt my ate , im not sure if that will affect a lot get it dirty

If you do a lot of mud and dust you can get the filter socks that go over top the filter. We’ve ran those same things on our off road Buggys.

@wilvany is it a 150cc? Maybe the 28mm carb is just too big causing it to bog? Might have to try getting down if so and see if that helps.

The intake manifold must be different on yours because on my coolster with a 125cc, i tried this exact swap and even with shaving down that nub on the carb bowl, i still hit the starter motor by a lot. I wonder if they changed that at your from the dealer because i noticed you had the plastic spacer in between your old carb and the intake manifold. I guess i have to figured out a replacement manifold....

Could be that the dealer swapped it like you mentioned or the slight differences of Apollo brand vs coolster. I’d double check Amazon or ebay for another intake manifold I think there are a bunch of options hopefully one can work for ya. Her Atv has been running great all year with the new carb. Starts up easy and runs well

@PeakPerformanceEngineering If its not too much to ask, and you ever get a chance, can you possibly measure one of your intakes manifolds as far as the height? There are a million out there and I'm trying to see if i can find one a little bit taller or match up to your existing one.

Sure thing, might be a while though cause I have the kids stuff buried in my other garage due to all our Halloween crap lol. Maybe in the next week or so I can get it out

@@danp801did you ever figure out a solution for this? I’m debating changing mine out on my 125cc coolster but the difference in measurements is about 2 inches from the stock carb to the nibbi.

What I usually do in cases like that is I’ll buy 3 or 4 different ones off Amazon and see which one fits best then just return the rest 🤷‍♂️

Will the carburettor make it accelerate faster and what’s the mph after

On our ATV it definitely starts easier, idles better and accelerates faster and smoother. With my 210lbs on it, it used to bog sometimes at lower speeds with me on it and that has gone away. With my 54lb 10 year old, it certainly looks a lot quicker now. Probably doesn’t change the top speed as that is governed by RPM and gearing, but it does get there quicker now. For a simple carb change and being pretty cheap I think it’s a worthwhile mod, especially if having trouble with the stock one.

Thanks I’ll look into that, will it help it run better/increase power? Basically making the intake runner a bit longer for more HP up top ?

If you didn't change the intake to match the larger carb then you are not getting any advantages of the larger carb. It actually creates bad flow since now you have part of the intake blocking the mixture flow into the head coming out of the larger bore of that Nibbi.

Agreed should be even better performance with upgraded intake. Even without though it was an immediate improvement over stock carb as far as ease of starting and throttle response. Always had trouble with it starting and stalling with the stock carb. Don’t have that issue anymore, so even without changing intake, still an easy and effective mod.

Problem is I could not find a larger intake in that goose neck shaped. Without the goose neck the carb will hit the starter.
