I solve most of these by taking one matchstick and laying it diagonally across the equal sign so, for example, 6+6=8 becomes 6-6 is not equal to 8, which is mathematically speaking, correct. Some people would call me a smart ass. I prefer to think of it as “thinking outside the box”.

Every puzzle has many, many trivial answers like this one. If you remove the possibility of "not equals to" you have puzzles that are genuine challenges.

I thought about that one, but the challenge is "fix the equation", not "turn the equation into a fixed inequality".

BODMAS does not imply addition is first. Addition and subtraction are the same precedence and are done as they appear from left to right. The same is true for multiplication and division. The first one of these encountered when going from left to right is done first.

It's an equation because there is an operation on one side and the result on the other side of a =. That's an equation.

Even though in PEDMAS addition to the left of subtraction addition has no priority in execution over subtraction. Similarly, division has no priority in execution over multiplication.
