Great to see that again 😊 Brings back great memories of April 1988 when this loco propelled me between Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street.

Nice to hear the classic class 47 horn sounding like a squeaky rubber duck.

Looks splendid; a fine tribute to Princess Diana! Seen this 47 at Crewe on the way home from the Battle of Nantwich last Saturday.

Crewe has a good collection of classic modern traction but really needs undercover accommodation to protect them better. Last visited the Heritage Centre over 30 years ago. I might be interested in going there are again; shame the rest of Crewe is a real dump and felt a bit unnerving walking from the station to the bus stop on Nantwich Road. Crewe and Nantwich are definitely worlds apart!!!

Certainly some great locos there now, shame about the rest of the town nowadays.

Alongside the 47's LSL need to get some stuff out that maybe hasnt been seen for god knows how many years. Class 31's, Peak's (44, 45 or 46's), 52's (Western, D1015 is approved but been absent for a while owing to repairs) and maybe even hire in some of the diesel's that are stored at Barrow Hill roundhouse. Maybe even convert a class 47 into a 48 and even consider operating the unique class 89.

47’s look good in many different liveries my favourites being : large logo blue , Scottish as 47712 and of course original two tone green , probably in that order . Worst livery for me has to be WCR maroon .

I find it odd how he is just snapping up all of these Preservation Locomotives and suddenly bringing them back onto the Mainline Again

47712 still belongs to CDPG. Lsl have brought it back to mainline standard and it is on loan to them for 3 years. ( I think its 3)

Might be me being cynical but I think the case is that A) he has the workshop capacity for such work and B.) Might be a tax dodge Whereas I don't know if you've ever been in the workshop in Carnforth (easiest comparison) it's an older building with less modern equipment available whereas Crewe Diesel has overhead gantry cranes among other advantages. Also some might argue diesels are easier to put back together and maintain.

@@OlanKenny I actually haven't been onto Crewe or Carnforth Depots so sadly I have no ideas about how they look like from within. But 'Yes' I understand the point from where you were coming from.

@OlanKenny 4 жыл бұрын
@@moxon2313 I had the opportunity to go on a tour of Carnforth a while ago. If I remember correctly it's a two road shed which can roughly fit about 8 locos . They have a road based crane for lifting things like the boiler. Unfortunately photos aren't shared as publicly I haven't been to Crewe but I have seen a lot of photos from the open day last year. They've an overhead crane, a set of jacks and I'm not sure how long it is but I believe it's also 2 roads. The guys in Carnforth do fantastic work but Crewe have much more modern facilities available to them. They're also a bit better at using social media to take advantage of interest in their operations
