48 - Dismantling the Rock Sieve, Expanding the Veggie Garden & Cleaning the Farmhouse Facade!

Our trusty wooden rock sieve has done a great job cleaning up the dump site. We had to make a few repairs after our rooster tried to sneak under it to find worms, but this tool has been a huge help in transforming the area. It was already falling apart a bit since Philippe reused some of its screws to make a monitor stand, but now it’s time to take it apart completely. Now that Philippe knows this prototype works perfectly, he wants to make one out of metal, though he’ll need to practice some welding first. A metal sieve will last longer, and we’ll definitely need it for our future excavation and renovation projects.
While Philippe is taking it apart, I'm tilling the soil to prepare for planting more veggies. We're also setting up supports for the tomato plants and weeding between the potatoes. This week, we're also cleaning the facade of the old farmhouse with muriatic acid to remove the cement veil from the stones. We spray on the acid, let it sit for a while, and then rinse it off. The difference is amazing!
Unfortunately, later in the week, we all fell ill, thanks to a bug Odin brought back from daycare. So, we're taking it easy for the rest of the week to recover our strength.

Eggs shells and sawdust are excellent in keeping slugs and snails away from your plants because they can't travel over them. also they are good for the garden as well, especially the eggshells. When you plant tomatoes you put half of the plant into the ground, they grow big and strong if you do.
@DomaineSauvage

Anicia actually put the tomatoes deeper but we didn't know that was a good thing to do 😅 someone else mentioned it as well! The egg shells and coffee ground seem to be working against the snails/slugs.

Great video this week.. the stone on the house is looking fabulous.. wondering how the little oak trees you moved are going, did they survive?

Hey John we did an update a few videos ago, the small ones are all ok. The bigger ones we will see next season if they come back.

Good to see, that you have at least a few dry days. Do you have to do the cleaning on all sides of the house or only the front? It looks great! By the way, I really like the mower from your neighbor. ❤

Hey LittleChena! The weather is better! No more complaining and soon we will start moving soil and digging behind the barns. The 3 other sides on the farmhouse have a concrete border of 1m high so i will have to clear that. The old barn i will have to do 3 sides because of the pointing that isn't done properly. All in good time! The pointing will have to wait until we start renovating since we want to move some windows etc. Yeah the mower was great, it lacked a little bit of power compared to the Stihl but it gave a nice cut!

Hello! Thx for the kind words and yes we saw the news about the assassination, not good when politics become violent! Everywhere even in Europe people are very divided as well.
