After having lived and worked in two other Safari Condo Alto trailers, we always suspected that the F1743 would be the Goldilocks of the Alto trailers- not too big but with plenty of storage. Really helpful scrutiny/review between the 1743 and the 2114 b/c I've been looking at the both of them for a long while. The rear storage cupboards I think make the 2114 more for me and my family, even tho I love how small and cute the 1743 is. We're also really tall at 6' and 6'4" so it's interesting to see how he fits in the space to inform me about how it would be in the space. The 2114 is definitely a better choice for us tall folks just bc of that. I was surprised about the void space at the back of the beds. Great review. Thanks!

We're so happy you enjoyed the video! I would agree that, at 6'4" tall, you'd likely be much more comfortable in the F2114. It's worth mentioning, the ceiling in the retractable-roof Alto R1723 is actually significantly taller that the fixed-roof F1743 (when it's raised)! I never would have guessed that and thought you should know since you like the 17' trailer length. Great video, thanks. I have an opportunity to purchase the F1743 but have been holding out for the F2114 or A2124....I've been holding out for over a year, though, so maybe it's time to pull the trigger? Do you think a 6'3" man could be ok full timing in the F1743? Also, could you install a Starlink dish on it?

I hate making definitive statements (especially when they influence the purchase of a ~$50K trailer), but I would not purchase a F1743 if I were 6'3". In fact, it'd be the last Alto I'd buy. Ironically, the retractable altos (R1713 and R1723) have the highest ceilings, at least in the center. The F2114, F2414, and A2124 models have a 6'3" ceiling from front to back because their roofs are flat. However, you would probably still bump your head on the fan in the center of the trailer and the bathroom will be a few inches shorter than the rest of the trailer because of the raised shower pan. The F1743 and F1743 Expedition are the worst of both for tall people considering the roof is 6'3" at the highest point (in the center of the trailer), and the roof also has a curved profile from front to back so only a very small portion of the trailer is that tall. I'm 6'0" and I bump my head on stuff all of the time in our 1743. You would be miserable. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching our videos!

@@JustinandJess dang, that's a really good point! I've stood in a 2114 and it was just fine, but I haven't been inside a F1743. I can see how the curvature would lower the height everywhere but the center. I'll try to find a 1743 nearby that I can walk around inside. Thanks for the "heads up"! :O)

To keep the weight down in the camper what are you using for plates and pots and pans?

We have one big 12" stainless steel saucepan that we use for the majority of stove top cooking. It can make some pretty large meals, like pasta dishes, chili, or stir fry. Between that and a single plastic bowl for mixing or tossing, we can get away with making most meals. Four dishware, we use Corelle dishware like the one in this link. www.target.com/p/corelle-2pk-glass-vitrelle-30oz-meal-bowls-white/-/A-88142338 They're sort of a mix between a plate and a bowl and are perfect for most meals! They can hold a decent amount of soupy foods if we're having dishes like chili, but they're also perfect for solid foods like burgers and fries. If you are not familiar with Corelle dishware, it's a super lightweight but durable material that feels premium but is still very lightweight. We have four of those bowls so we can host dinner for another couple when needed

@@billymacktexasdetective5827 we've never received a penny from Safari Condo. They didn't know we were making this video, and they have zero editorial influence over the reviews we produce. They loaned us this trailer to sleep in for 2 days. We bought our first Alto with our own money and, like many others, fell in love with the quality engineering and craftsmanship. Because of their quality, these trailers have a 2+ year waiting list and frequently sell used for more than new, and that resale value is worth it for many people.

@@billymacktexasdetective5827 Sorry, but they are not overpriced. We've had our F-1743 since 2015, and it's still as good as new. The workmanship of these trailers is on par with Airstreams, but much lighter and still way less expensive. To really appreciate them, you have to stay in one for a few days, you would be won over. No cheap wood paneling that can break easily, and the layout is perfect.

I would dare to say that most people do not buy a travel, trailer or camper to work out of. Especially, a standup workstation in the dinette.

That's a safe bet! We are also not like most people 😊. It's not the most comfortable working conditions, but the size of the trailer offers a lot of flexibility for where we can camp and how quickly we can move. Tradeoffs, I suppose.

It's floor mounted at the front of the trailer. Take a look at the video thumbnail or a portion of the video where we are standing outside of the trailer's door. You'll notice it just to the right of the door. On the inside of the trailer, it's below the front dinette seat cushion. Thanks for watching!
