My March 2020 video blog filmed at the beginning of the month during a 48-hour trip to the stunning Sitch fishery in Shropshire. After finding some fish close in, a heavy frost kills it for the first 24 hours. But a change of swim into an area that produced carp a few days earlier, soon sees a couple of fish on the bank to just over 30lb. Other topics covered during the film include, tactics for the time of year and the fading art of carp fishing etiquette. For more info on The Sitch, take a look at www.rhfisheries.com where open access in the holiday swim is available to pre-book.

I live 15 mins away from The Sitch. What an idyllic lake. Who knows, I might be able to save up for a ticket one day? Brill video. (Forgot to comment after watching 😄👍).

Simon I'm catching up with all your vlogs which are great and getting me back interested in carping again. I live and work overseas currently, but come from your Mrs neck of woods. I lost interest due to the pressured waters and ended up on the Torksey arm fishing the Trent for carp. Much quieter like you alluded to in this vid. Keep up the good work, it keeps me sane, lol.

Only recently found your videos mate and they are fantastic. I haven't been able to go fishing for around 18 months now due to family commitments and now lock down but the next best thing is watching your great videos. The RH venues are stunning places. They are definitely aspirational places for joe bloggs anglers like me. Couldn’t agree more Simon with you’re views on etiquette.... to be honest it’s not just fishing I feel basic manners are slipping in life in general... I’m 49 going on 70!!!!. And for me the peace and quiet is something I cherish in fishing... Problem is it seems there just isn’t enough lake space to go round!!!.

Just a quick scan of comments "etiquette " pops up a lot. Years ago fishing a tiny clear weedy and hard lake we all made sure we didn't step on each other's toes. We didn't all see eye to eye, but we respected each others space which was f!@#$%^g hard. But we did it. As always respect. 🍻

Hope your found a way to wet your lines. Might start casting into buckets like i used to years ago with new float to carp / pike rods!!! Back then it was just to get my feel of the rod before i used them. Especially when i used to match fish as a nipper, ivw got a sharred gardern at mo. Might start a little casting comp with the kidz as some ov their dads do fish, and the ones that dont! I could turn them into fishermen/women. Stop tem goong out stealing bog roll. Lol.🍻

Etiquette decreased with the increase of 'instant anglers'. They can easily buy all the gear and learn all the basics from youtube but because they haven't been brought into the sport by someone who knows how to behave they just never learn. The d&b sound track and big, boisterous personalities of modern media have replaced the classical soundtracks and country gents of days gone by. I'm not a snob for the old days or old characters but I do feel that something has been lost along the way, angling has gotten way more competitive and confrontational over the last 20 yrs.
