Just the fact that you use the familiar “tu” is a wonderful testament to how accessible and open Lee is . He invites you in as a friend would. We have nothing comparable in our language, which I think is too bad...

I've always been a fan of Veronique Sanson, such a voice, such a piano player and such a songwriter. Funny thing, I was in France in 1993 and I happened to go to the Zenith to see her in concert. Memorable concert by the way I remember telling my girlfriend :"Hey look, it's that bass player from the Phil Collins videos" And here we are 28 years later and you talk about that period. The circle is complete, as they say.

Thanks Lee for revisiting Veronique Sanson. We all love her so much in France, and she's such a nice person, so sensible. This album is one of my faves ! Feel free to do another one. I'm pissed off because of the taxman story ! Bureaucracy is such a pain here ... The story about the language is the same for us when we listen to english speaking artists, but a great song is a great song, and it's possible to appeciate it whatever the language.

Leland, you are loved. Not just for your bass playing. I just finished watching a Zoom from The Berklee Bass Department, with some guests of rock bass players, and drummers. They showed a picture of you with Steve from the Berklee Bass Department, and the bass player, and drummer from the band Tool. Many of guest artists got big smiles on their faces and said how much they liked you. I thank you Leland for guiding me back to these Zoom meetings from my Alma mater, from watching this channel.

It is a cool get together - Lee's Clubhouse. Eclectic, caring folks. We talk to one another like cousins at the family reunion. I cannot read music, yet music is perhaps the most important non-family love of my life. That's how I knew who Lee was back in '72, when I was a kid starting to buy records. That's what brought me to this great channel last spring. Nearly a year later - Clubhouse gatherings, a Zoom conversation with Lee, the "finger" book on our coffee table (Ok, it's a trunk) - I'm still attending this daily great Music History class as often as I can. I have this fantastical thought of - when the Pandemic is history - meeting with all of the Clubhouse characters and Leland at some gigantic shindig in a field in Bethel, NY (or Pasadena!)

I'll always remember back in 2007-ish, in my mom's car, driving in the south of France. I was a young bassplayer - into like one or two years of practice. My mother had the « Comme ils l'imaginent » record, live at Francofolies de la Rochelle in 1994. I didn't know who was Véronique back in the days, so I put the CD in the player. Good, all good. But then came the 10th track : « On m'attend là-bas », with Paul Personne as guest on the lead guitar. First, his licks were pretty good, I was hyped. The crescendo is pretty well, I wonder what will follow ; I'm all focused of what's happening. And then the rhythm section and the brass section play the « main groove » of the song. I was blown away by how tight y'all were. Powerful, sexy, punchy, without pretention or anything : pure strength. From this day, 14 years ago, to nowaday, since I'm now a professionnal bassplayer, bass teacher and MD in musicology, this is what I might call "a" pinacle of groove. This song, and especially these few seconds, totally changed my way of thinking how a rhythm section should play, how a specific musical wish should be executed. You and Neil had an impact in my musical life in a few seconds like a very few others. And, well, many thanks for that, boss. Greetings from Rennes, Britanny (France) !
