What happens when you contrast the Ten Commandments with the 7 Virtues? Saint Thomas Aquinas became such an Atomic Bomb of Spiritual Blessing to the Roman Catholic Church when he Baptized the Philosophy of Aristotle. Saint Thomas Aquinas's ultimate answer was that perfect happiness (beatitudo) was not possible on earth, but an imperfect happiness (felicitas) was. This puts Saint Thomas Aquinas midway between those like Aristotle, who believed complete happiness was possible in this lifetime, and another Christian thinker, Saint Augustine, who taught that happiness was impossible and that our main pleasure consists merely in the anticipation of the heavenly afterlife.💗
