Looking good! I only use foraged wood from my farm in my tanks that has been down at least a year. Some woods do this a lot more than others - the worst is my grape vine wood. It's at least 2 inches thick with proper bark, but still has some white slime after 8 weeks. The fish seem to love it though so I let it go. If you want to see a lot of tiger barbs, check out the aquarium coop videos from a couple years ago. Cory had a bunch of clown loaches and tiger barbs in a 800gal setup with a mbu puffer named ladybird. It looked amazing but they were a bit too much action for Ladybird and had to go. Really tank to watch!

Hey MD, the mini water lettuce doesn't always send it's roots so far- it's looking for more nutrients. I reckon it's because of the light bioload in the the shrimp tank. Try increasing the liquid ferts.

with the white stuff on the wood. i had that on mine and when i put my pleco in the tank, in the next few days it was completely gone. would recommend you putting a bristle nose in to get rid of it

I keep a tidal 75 going on at least one tank all the time filled with bio media. In addition to my 3 x 407 fluval canister filter. I've use the Tidal 75 on new tanks until they are cycled, it works a treat. I also swap out a fluval tray on a new filter. I am about to set up a new shrimp tank, I'll use my Tidal for that tank. That will be my last tank! Love your natural tanks, nature knows best! 😁 👍

You have some amazing aquascaping skills. I'd love to see you do a Dutch style scape. Supposedly Dutch is the most difficult but tbh your tanks look more difficult in a way lol. I imagine you could easily create a gorgeous Dutch style tank.

Had a wee giggle at your comment about adding ammonia to a new tank being old school. I had my first tanks 50 years ago, those days you bunged a box filter in when you finished setting it up, and once the water was clear it was ready for fish. Don’t recall losing too many, either, but then I always had heavily planted tanks.

With the fungus on your wood it's possible the darker heart wood portions are decay resistant. It's not uncommon for the sapwoods to decay faster than the rest of the wood. Species like black walnut and Eastern red cedar are like this.

Have you ever considered using a small All Ponds Solution small canister filter when trimming your moss to stop it spreading (if you don’t want it to, of course)? I watched another KZfaqr use this method and I thought it was genius as it doesn’t syphon out water if you don’t want to or need to do water changes when doing maintenance

Hi MD you know the Electric blue acaras will be adults one day. Then they will eat your tetras. Ebas are not agressive but they will eat anything that can fit their mouths. I have 9 Ebas and you can trust me on this. And if you don't do some researches on KZfaq or Google. Anyway, I love your videos. You're awsome

There are some nutrients in the wood that are pushed out of the wood by the water. They get pushed out as protein so that's why it looks like fungus

I just use my canister filters as bio filters. Fill with bio media and clean every 6mo to a year.... I use hang on back or sumps for mechanical. With a canister filter for bio, I never have to worry about water parameters...

If I died and could choose to reincarnate into something, it would be as a fish in one of your tanks. Imagine being able to swim in literal art all day and him rescaping it and it being even better the next day 😂
