What's the difference between 4Hi, 4Lo, and 2Hi? When should I use 4Lo? When should I use 4hi? How does a transfer case work? Do I need to be in neutral to shift into 4Lo? What are the steps necessary to shift into 4Lo? This video features the 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport, with the various driving modes required. 4Hi, 4Lo, 2Hi, and an Auto LSD.

Well that would have to be pretty specific to one model, it's not universal. The reason you think theres many misconceptions is because there's various ("good") ways to lift or level your truck but it's different for every truck. Not drastically different but minor differences. Just look specifically for the truck you want to mod

You have the best car videos on KZfaq by a mile but I have to say that you got to almost 700k subs simply off of, "Hello everybody and welcome." It is the best intro of any on KZfaq and I can't speak for everyone but I know sometimes I watch your videos just to hear the intro, I don't even care what the topic is (I mean I know you'll have me interested in it by the end anyway). This is not a knock it's a huge compliment. I don't care how big your channel gets, you could put all kinds of graphics and whatever but please never lose that.

google deep neck flexor exercises to help fix this posture. One exercise you can do is called chin tucks, you can do it when driving. Head on head rest, can you believe its possible? Then nod head down slightly to give yourself a double chin, hold 1 second. while Smashing back of head/ upper neck into head rest. repeat 20 times and do multiple times when driving during the day. aight

+Frank Magana Aka the cheapskate, cost-cutting version of LSD. A Torsen LSD with a high bias ratio e.g. 3:1 would be an ideal synergy when combined with a well calibrated TC system, since the Torsen would actually send more torque to the high traction wheel. For instance, if 1 wheel was off the ground and the TC caught the wheelspin with the brakes and the torque going to the spinning wheel was say, 1000Nm, a 3:1 torque bias would have 3000Nm sent to the high grip side on the ground.
@4G12
@4G12 8 жыл бұрын
Torsen means extra quality hardware aka more $$$ cost. Some extra code in the ABS computer is relatively cheap. Sure, there's the aftermarket, just be prepared to fork out quite a few hundred USD in the process at the very least, not including installation costs.
@4G12

This had an "auto lsd" which is just a fancy way of saying open differential that uses the brakes to try to make it function like a limited slip. It seems to have no where the capabilities of a true limited slip, and this system can be achieved in any vehicle with an open differential by pressing on the brakes when a tire is spinning. This system is very different from a locked differential, which forces both wheels to spin at the same rate, and time when engaged. Limited slip forces both wheels to spin the same way, but they don't have to match up like in a locked differential. Seems odd they call it auto LSD when you manually have to turn it on each time you want to use it. Maybe the auto is in that you don't have to press on the brakes?

For anyone who is curious, Engineering Explained is at Ladee Flats just outside of Estacada, OR. He is at the Rock Quarry which is about halfway up. Ladee Flats has a gravel trail going all the way to the top with many offroad trails ranging from easy to hard splitting off from it. if you are in the area I'd suggest taking it out, but if you want to attempt the offroad trails I'd suggest taking a rig with 4x4 or have a friend with a winch. Beware that if you don't purchase the OHV trail pass you can get ticketed, but the pass is like 12 dollars which is a much better deal than a 120 dollars for the ticket.

When doing Sand Drags and Mud Bog racing, I always started in 4-Lo for torque and 2nd gear for wheel speed. Always got a much faster and stronger launch. Actually won a mud bog in Arizona with my 1982 Toyota long bed PU.

I have the 2017 Tacoma off-road version with a 4.30 rear diff. The torque in 4L is insane.

great video. Could you by any chance do a video explaining when to use 4 high vs. 4 Low and how the turning radius is affected by using 4hi and 4lo

+mesa620 Turing radius isn't affected much, unless you start locking axles.

I had to laugh at your snow comment. We had 6-9in last weekend in south central Michigan. It's going to be 70° Sat. lol. Great vid. Altho I'm not a huge fan of Toyota the midsize has been around in the USA for many years. Hence the popularity of the 350 swap. It was built for it from the factory...
