4K 3DP Time Lapses | No Upgrades/OctoPrint/Coding

Get started with capturing 3D printing time lapses quickly using only your smartphone. This method is 100% reliable, and very easy to follow. All you need is a pair of old earphones, a 220-Ohm resistor, and a spare limit switch. A simple Cura extension (built-in) will finish the job. I have an Ender 3 printer, but this will work on almost any other 3D printer

Do you have the STL for the switch mount? This is an awesome idea and I think even an electrical novice like me could figure this out! Great video :)

Thanks a lot for the kind comment :) I now added the STL to my instructable, see step 7 in the link below. But before you do - the reason I didn't attach it in the first place is because I think each combination of print+limit switch would need a different mount. So chances are the part I made won't work for you! You have three options then - try my design and see if you're your lucky, design your own mount, or use hot glue (my friend did it with a copy of the switch I gave her). 😅 Before this video I tried the bluetooth button. It was a pain. Modeling button holder. Then the push mechanic because it's a bit hard to push. And finally, my old phone, which I planned to use, refused to work normally with this button.

Ouch! What an annoying journey... I'd try using a slightly different resistor - maybe 200 or 240. As I mentioned in the video, this method worked with 3/4 phones I tried. I suspect it could be solved by using a slightly different resistor, but I didn't try it. Hope I'm not sending you to another annoying path!

Is there any chanve that you can make a video for a phone that does not have a headphone jack ?

Sure! Someone commented in my instructable suggesting the use for a bluetooth remote. It's a good idea but you'd have to make sure it doesn't run out of battery during long prints (maybe add a power source?).
