My 20 cents.... 1:00 A brand new portal to allow eastbound access into the yard 3:09 old abandoned (in the '60s?) portal to allow westbound access into the yard 3:57 portal to allow westbound access into the yard 5:10 a short turnout tunnel to give access to BMT(?) (never completed. Never used) 5:58 Atlantic ave. viaduct. Originally built in 1903. Rehabbed in 1993 then replaced in 201x? 14:54 abandoned (1962) turnout that takes you out of the tunnel to above street level to Ozone Park and on to the Rockaways 15:02 Woodhaven station (lower level) abandoned in 1976 17:07 Where Dunton station used to be. Gone since the '30s. 23:52 What's left of Union Street Hall station. Closed in the '70s.

Plus you got Far Rockaway via the Montauk (guessing it was the welded rail/concrete tie work on the Atlantic Branch near Locust Manor).......good rare ride!!!!

this Branch btw is gonna go to Grand Central during Off Peak Hours, replacing service between Far Rockaway and Atlantic Terminal

As the train approaches Jamaica Station, I said to myself "I might as well be in London England" because there are various rail stations that have office/commercial/residential buildings to compliment the surrounding neighborhoods; I I truly and railfully love the line, sceneries included, since 1987. . .so this train just happen to be operating via St. Albans (note the flyover track near the Hillside Maintenance Facility)-historically there used to be a stop at Springfield Gardens-otherwise trains would being using the underpass leading to stops at Locust Manor, Laurelton, and Rosedale. . . Far Rockaway and Long Beach trains normally use the underpass to the said stations enroute while Babylon and West Hempstead trains pass through St. Albans, whether or not that they stop depending on the scheduled runs, especially at night. By the way, I never been to London, England or any other foreign city with a hugh railroad network with various rail stations within short walking distance, except Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where the train stations (30 Street Penn Station/Suburban Station*/Jefferson Station**) were intertwined by the Mid City Tunnel since the 1980s allowing trains to go from NE to NW [and reverse] through Downtown like a bowtie/ribbon with North Philadelphia smack in the middle like a knot (yes, two different railroad companies that came together: Pennsylvania and Reading first, SEPTA second). 🛤 *formerly called Broad Street, then Penn Center later. . . **formerly called Reading Terminal, then Market East later. . .

Interesting. Did not realize that both MTA and LIRR service Far Rockaway. The MTA trip goes over a lot of water. I don't think MTA has a lot of street level crossings. And I think there is a Far Rockaway and a Far Far Rockaway for MTA. Enjoyed the ride.

Great Video! BTW, how many layups are kept in F.R. yard for the morning rush? It appeared to be more than one train per track given only 8 or 10 car consists on the Branch. Was your M-3 doing a roundtrip back to Atlantic?

I didn't know trains to Far Rockaway could take the Babylon route.
