Pretty interesting that a Nahuátl (Aztec) Word for the Valley of Mexico where the core of the Aztec Empire existed, is the name of a Texas City, I know it was once part of Mexico but usually they named places that far North Spanish names since the Aztecs Never got that far north.

@@amparocruz951 most of the conquering of the new world was done by native troops, mostly nahautl people. As a result you have nahuat names as north as Utah and as South as Panama

@@brittrips The lake can be seen through the trees directly in front of you just as you approached the canal company in that sharp curve back to Miller Street, to your left is the mouth of the Trinity River and Trinity bay, There are several waterways that converge right there where you were at, the blue building in the curve is the canal company as the locals call it, there is a retention pond at the bottom of the hill there, had you made that first left after the curve and went to the end of the street and made another left nd went down the hill it would have taken you to the lake. I grew up in Anahuac and lived there over 30 years, Wikipedia will not tell me anything I dont already know LOL

Can remember the park name but we use to go crabbing there Also they got the Wild life refuge me an my people from Ames/Liberty used to go crabbing fishing . Turtles an gators were usual
