Railway line Beograd - Novi Sad has undergone significant changes compared to the previously recorded cabviews. In some places, a completely new route was built, some line curves have been ironed out and the old single-track line became double-track line. It is the first railway line in Serbia for train speeds up to 200km/h.
This cabview was recorded from IC trains starting from Novi Sad to Belgrade and then in the opposite direction from Belgrade to Novi Sad. The first part of the video from Novi Sad to the south is very picturesque because of the beautiful colors of scenery twilight and the surrounding city evening lights.
The video was taken from the new Serbian Railways Stadler KISS EMU train. The first part recorded from IC train 551 (Novi Sad - Beograd Centar) and the second part from IC train 552 (Beograd Centar - Novi Sad). These trains did not have any stops during the filming.
The ride starts at upgrated part of station Novi Sad. The maximum allowed speeds are:
100km/h and 120km/h from Novi Sad to Petrovaradin,
160km/h from Petrovaradin to Sremski Karlovci and Karlovački Vinogradi,
200km/h from Karlovacki Vinogradi to Batajnica (41km of line, over Čortanovci, Beška, Inđija, Stara Pazova and Nova Pazova),
120km/h from Batajnica to Novi Beograd and
100km/h from Novi Beograd to Beograd Centar.
Timestamps for 200km/h ride are 09:40 and 48:10 in the opposite direction.
Train ride and engine driver are controlled by ETCS level 2 (European Train Control System). Movement authority and other signal aspects are displayed in the cab for the train driver. Train movements are monitored continually by the radio block centre using trackside-derived information. The movement authority is transmitted to the vehicle continuously via GSM-R or GPRS together with speed information and route data. The on-board computer continuously monitors the transferred data and shows the maximum permissible speed. During this recording there were no significant restrictions or obstacles along the track and the train was running at the maximum allowed speed on each part of the line most of the time.
The most important objects along the railway line are:
03:56 Bridge over the Danube River (Žeželjev most) ( L = 474m )
10:10 Bridge Čortanovci ( L = 2806m one track and L = 2861m another track )
11:00 Tunnel Čortanovci ( L = 1156m one track and L = 1087m another track )
28:35 Tunnel "Bežanijska kosa" ( L = 1921m )
31:15 Bridge "Novi železnicki most" ( L = 1928m )
The most impressive are new railway viaducts and tunnels Čortanovci, over the slopes of mountain Fruska Gora.
Recording date:
March 2022.

It would be good to activate line Belgrade - Timisoara. Belgrade-Vršac (15 km from RO border) is already in good condition, do you know in what condition is section on Romanian side to Timisoara? I think it's more problem with paperwork and bad communication of both railway companies than state of infrastructure.

@@carick235 on the romanian side it doesn’t look very well maintained. It is single track unelectrified line. There’re plans afoot to modernise the line that should be starting anytime soon. A few years ago the Bucharest-Belgrade train night train was operating on this line connecting both countries however has ceded to function. Romania intends to use the enlarged European funds( because of covid-19 impact on EU countries a massive plan has been set to recover, billions of euros will have to be spent on different sectors including infrastructure. Hopefully the Timisoara-Moravita line will be upgraded very soon, also motorway is scheduled to start no later than next year I reckon.

Belgrade central station is under construction, they are currently finishing the last section of concrete plate above railway tracks, by the end of this year private company will start building new station building on top of that concrete plate (government signed a deal with them, they will get office space around the station), it will open in 2024.

Don’t be silly.. Rail infrastructure in Serbia is falling everwhere and trains are running more slower after reconstructions projects like Zaječar-Nis.. Before reconstruction of Zaječar-Niš running time was 3 and half hour, after reconstruction running time is 4 hours!! And it is just one of lot examples, railways company here are corrupt as fuck.. Don’t forget that we are now in debts from China and Russia bc rail Novi Sad-Belgrade. Railway system is soo much better in Bulgaria and I Said that from my view (I am from Serbia)

@@jjo288 You talk such nonsense. The modernization of the rail infrastructure, which has been bombed in several places and which has been neglected for almost 40 years (which was greatly affected by sanctions), has just begun, every line in Serbia can not be done overnight. The railways in Serbia, especially this new one, look much better than all the neighboring countries. Serbian railways are in a much better condition than Bulgarian ones, although there is still a lot of work to be done, what Bulgaria has and we do not is only metro. This railway is the most modern and fastest railway among ex Yugoslav countries and the all region of south-east Europe. Works on the section Novi Sad-Subotica are in progress, and modernization towards Nis has begun on some sections. Russian Railways, together with the Czech Railways, is currently modernizing the Subotica-Szeged section (Serbia-Hungary). This year, the modernization of the line Nis-Dimitrovgrad to the border with Bulgaria, as well as Pancevo-Belgrade-Vrsac-Timisoara (Serbia-Romania) should start. Only now, due to the current events, the modernization and construction of the new 4 Beovoz line are in question, as well as the purchase of the newest Russian trains Lastocka, the project which was supposed to start this year as well as modernization of Serbia-Montenegro line.

I love these videos. I do sometimes feel a bit melancholy thinking about how far behind America’s passenger rail infrastructure is. We desperately need high speed rail and new rail lines to get away from big oil. We are so deep in lobbyist and corporate pockets it’s not even funny anymore. It’s just sad that we can’t keep up with the world anymore.

Good. I remember that in summer 2008 or 2009 it took over six hours to get from Beograd to Subotica and one hour stop there for no apparent reason (border control had dinner?). Track had wooden ties, single rail and because it was very hot, train was likely not allowed to go over 30kmh or 50kmh over various sections and it often stopped to wait for train in opposing direction. International train to Budapest. Whole journey from Sutumore to Brno started like 6pm on Saturday and ended at 2am on Monday 16 hours later than planned.

Nice to see that the line has been build (in only a few years)! It even has ETCS, though I wonder if you won't miss any of the signals at 200 km/h. 30 minutes to travel around 80 kilometers is very modern!
@stephanweinberger
@stephanweinberger 2 жыл бұрын
With ETCS the trackside signals are not important anymore (and actually ignored by the train's safety systems). All relevant information is transmitted via radio link (GSM-R, a derivative of the GSM mobile phone standard tailored towards rail application) and displayed on the monitor in the driver's cab. The signals are only there for trains that are not equipped with ETCS - those can only run with vmax 160km/h.
