So many memories. At the offramp on the right used to be a Shell station, where I got my first job(1983). Went to Alpine Elementary in 5th grade( at 09:18 on the left). There used to be a sign there that said Best Climate in the US, per GOVT Survey. My second job was at the Chevron station, where the Shell is now in town. Right next to the liquor store used to be a building, it was an arcade at one and had a giant fiberglass ape on the roof. At 10:50, the single story building on the right in green, used to be a place called McGuffie's, they made homemade shakes and malts and was also a bookstore. I also found my dream car there, as it was for sale, and I still own, a 1970 Dodge Challenger. Good times.

There's a great little taco shop in Alpine, it's a little hole in the wall place. I think it off Tavern Rd, take the Tavern exit, at the light turn left, get in the right lane and go maybe less than a mile. I'm from Barona in Lakeside and I used to go to that taco shop when I was on my way home from visiting family in Viejas.

My dad designed dinasour park there and made the dinasours but the park closed then he worked for international fiberglass and made statues such as Paul Bunyan,Bobs Big Boy and many other iconic fiberglass statues which can be seen in my new book.

Ahhh ok I know where you are, if you had taken the Dunbar exit, it would have taken you to the Sycuan reservation, now your headed towards Campo, Manzanita, La Posta, Quiapai, and right now you are on the Kumeyaay highway, headed towards Winterhaven, I live in Missouri now, but I grew up on the Barona reservation and as a kid, we spent a lot of time on the Campo, Sycuan and Viejas reservations because we have relatives on them.
