Stumbled upon this temple up in the hills after visiting the famous Todai-ji, and it was amazing. This temple has a terrace overlooking all of Nara, and multiple waterfall features that bring about a sense of zen. An old man that lives in Nara was visiting the temple said this is the most beautiful view in all of Nara, and that he often comes to visit. If you are ever in Nara, I would highly recommend you visit this hidden gem.

Nara will always be on our list - Haruya Naramachi Hostel was our base, this was our culmination both nights, each and every day/night was serendipitous.

I stumbled upon Nigatsudo also after Todai-ji. I like to blame the deers for it though. I was on my way to Kasugataisha (backway) but a bunch of deers came towards me and "pushed" me to a different path. Went up the Temple and was treated to a beautiful view of Nara and there was a ceremony going on (Monks were chanting). Thank you for the video...brought back memories.

Wow you are so lucky that they were having a ceremony up there! Their chants must have enchanted the deer to lure you in for the nice view 😉
