My dad had so many of these when I was growing up in the 80's-90's, I owned a few of them myself...I've currently got an 86' Buick Lesabre Wagon in very good condition that I drove 300 miles just to pick up from a vintage car dealer.

Here's the deal. They came with the Olds 307 roller block and the 7A heads. All of the Olds 307's I had were the better 5A but with the flat cam. Either way they were never first on race day. But they'd be running long after the Chevy 305 would be taking a dirt nap. I wouldn't put up with the leisurely acceleration of the 307 in the wagon. The wagon final drive was the Cadillac brougham standard 2.93. That was slightly better than the typical sedan with 2.73. (Some LS sedans had 3.08 and that's even better.) I know some have thought about swapping in an Olds 350. While that would be an improvement there's no reason not to just put in the Olds 403 because torque is where it's at! If you've ever been privileged to drive the older 98 Regency Broughams like I have and you drove a 307,(had an 81, 2) 82's and an 84) an 80 with a 350, and a 78 with a 403 you're not going to want to go back to the 350. The 403 was not a big block. But a Chevy 350 and a 700R4 (4L60) would be as good and probably better on account of aftermarket parts availability... and price. Although I did watch a 403 go for $150 a couple years ago and I let it go because I had nothing for it and still don't and likely never will. I'm not exceptionally fond of where Olds put the EGR valve and before you think about taking it off it does allow you to run more timing without detonation fears for broken piston crowns and upper compression rings. Some thought they'd fool the system and run a richer mixture but that doesn't help because it makes the cylinder temp even hotter. There's a way... but I'm not going to tell you (and realistically it doesn't really help that much). No, you're not going to find too many racers messing around with EGR but on the other hand there's not too many race cars that make good daily grocery getters either. There's a test at the end. I'll give you $5 right now if you'll go ahead and read the book. I did remove the EGR on my 82 Olds 98 so I could use an Edelbrock 600 (started and idled soooooo much better) and the reason I needed to remove the EGR was so I could machine an adapter for the 200R4 TV cable. I took a couple measurements, cut a piece of bar stock, and drilled some holes and it worked. But without the EGR it didn't get very good mileage and it just wasn't right on another couple fronts. So I put the feedback Quardrajunk back on, took the homemade EGR plate back off...it was crude, put the EGR back on, rehooked the linkage and peddled it to the first sucker I could find.

We selected gopro as it has a wide angle so it would show more detail... however the downside of using a gopro is fisheye lens that curves objects when close to them....

I get it. Never expected a reply! Love these cars. Our family owned an 83 custom cruiser loaded and we gave it to our aunt 10 years later in excellent condition. However, I will never part with the 3 seat 76 caprice estate which is georgious inside and out. It is one generation older, much longer and has that fully electric glideaway tailgate which operates like new! Thanks!
