The Dujiangyan Irrigation System, located in the northwest of Chengdu, Sichuan Province, is a magnificent ancient hydraulic engineering project in China and one of the oldest in the world. Built by Li Bing, the governor of Shu County during the reign of King Zhao of Qin, it took ten years to complete and has a history of over 2000 years by today. Still in use now, it serves the purpose of flood control and irrigation. Dujiangyan is renowned for its ingenious design and outstanding engineering technology. Using the method of "diverting water without a dam, self-flow irrigation," it transformed the Chengdu Plain from a flood-prone area into a fertile land known as the "Land of Abundance." It has also been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Additionally, Dujiangyan is a significant tourist attraction in Chengdu, attracting a large number of visitors for sightseeing and exploration.
