Best purchase I’ve ever made. Purchased the 16610 new in 1994. IMO the absolute best starting point for a premium watch that works as well for business settings as it does for casual. Rugged and built for anything. Still enjoy putting it on every single day.

Rolex absolutely addressed everything from the super-case “31 series movement” Sub model I found a bit off when it was introduced. Honestly the Sub41 looks like a direct modern replacement from my 5 digit Subs but built significantly better and tighter. Because of this “perfection in the details”, the Sub41 will be the most sought after model for a long, long, time. 😵‍💫. There is no getting around this. It’s going to be a real world $15k+ model maybe forever. I just won’t let the AD games and acquisition cloud the actual watch because it’s a innocent victim in the wallet flexing game. The dial to bezel ratio is perfect. I also love the new lugs, fatter hour hand and wider clasp. The clasp now looks in proper proportion and scale to the head of the watch. Previous Sub the clasp looked a little diminutive. Everything about these changes complete the look. I compare this to what Rolex did between the first gen DSSD and second gen DSSD with new bracelet. I also find it interesting that the dial and hands of the Sub 41 are now the exact same size as the SD43. Now the GMT line looks a bit dated.🤫

This is the perfect video to turn me into a kid again with excitement as I just found out I have been offered a new 124060 which I could collect anytime but wanted to wait until my AD who secured it for me is back off furlough next Monday. Makes me want to buy it from grey market cuz I’m not a regular customer from an AD and I don’t want to wait forever. I was shocked to see some dust but it’s impossible to keep the Rolex factory dustless so it makes sense lol.

Great video - I haven't seen your channel before - but its really impressive. On the dial of the new sub, I can see on your one, as well as one I inspected at an AD, that the area immediately around the centre, where the hands meet the dial, there is a slight impression, or ripple. The same seems true around the date window. I cant remember seeing that on previous references. Can you confirm whether that is what looks like an error on the dial, or just the new look - or how it has always been, and I just haven't noticed before. I think it cheapens the look of the dial. Thanks again for your superb video!

According to Rolex, this new Submariner, as well as the no date version, DO feature AR coatings on the underside of the crystal, marking the first time they have used it.

Under appreciated upgrade is the size of hands and the amount of lume on them. I'm a lume nut, so I could've gone for even more surface area for lume, but this is nice.

Great video, and great editing. Just wonder why you didn't clean up the Sub a bit more before putting it under a macro? A lot of dirt, lint and smudges.

Nice review. I really like that you you include wide contextual shots of the watch on wrist with different clothes as part of your intro. This gives a better idea of overall size and how it looks. However, there is an obvious blemish on the closeup of the watch on the bezel where the pip is at 5:02. It looks like a black smudge. Is the bezel damaged or can that be cleaned off?

I washed the watch before shooting clips and what you see near the pip is the smudge left out while i dried it using cloth. I didnt realise it until I had taken the clip and sat down to produce the video - apologies. No issues with bezel quality for sure.

Was waiting for your review. I think the high quality videos of yours are making so many people salivate on the subs, that Rolex should start paying you. I'm also really relieved that it looks really good on your 6.5 inch. I have one suggestion though, with all other reviewers and official watch videos showing 10:10 time, it would be refreshing if your watch shots show the dial with different times. After all, a watch shows 10:10 only 2 times a day, and seeing the hands alignment on different times would give a better idea of the dial layout.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried 04:40 in some vids too but 10:07 really works very well and the watch face doesn’t block the date, text or compromise symmetry. On top of this, at this position, the watch face is like smiling. Moving hands down keeps it symmetrical too, but the watch face becomes sadder with lips pointing down if you know what I mean 😅
