The gamers need a good story just like the Witcher 3 more than they need a better graphics in the game. No matter how photorealistic the game is, as long as it doesn't have a strong story, gamers won't buy it.

This may be the best of the Unreal 5 demos I've seen. Everything looks great at a glance. I think the problem is the static environment and the unnatural motion when things do move. It's like the uncanny valley. It all looks so real, but is uncomfortably not real. The leaves are the biggest issue. They drift down like cotton. Actual leaves tend to drop pretty quick. And if there's no breeze, they will drop straight down. This isn't usually an issue, but if Epic wants their engine to look like real life, they need to start incorporating more real world details other than reflective surfaces and bounced lighting. There needs to be ambient weather, like a breeze that sweeps through and shakes the trees, pushes leaves along the path. There has to be some level of interactivity, or else it's like walking around a sculpted façade. And while this looks great, I still think Kingdom Come holds the title for most realistic graphics.

With one clarification, the forest and the environment of the 2016 beta version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance are considered the most realistic.

things like leaves falling and other motion is down to the game/demo developers, thats all completely custom to the developers, epic just gives the tools to do that better ( and they also add complex features like nanite and lumen, of course )

@@taliesinsilvercrow9736 True, I was under the impression this was a demo produced by Epic. I thought it was one of those demos they release a couple times of year to show off new graphical features. I could be completely wrong with that assessment, though.

Somehow i fear my humble little middle class rig which can run Cyberpunk 2077 and Horizon Forbidden West just so @1044p/60fps on high settings will be able to run this above 30 fps steady without an upgrade. The detail and graphical fidelity is getting crazy with UE5, pretty much photorealism achieved!

For me, a lot of the materials still don't look realistic. Some do, but quite a lot don't. Depending on the material, it ranges from very good, to pretty awful. There are some bits in this which could have been made in the Quake 3 engine. While to some this might look close to photorealism, imo its still a fairly long way off.

Looks amazing and it would feel much better with a nice soothing bgm. However personally i have low expectations from CDPR games these days, once you stain your reputation it's hard to get back to where you were. Will see how they can please back their fans. On the other hand i am much more excited for Rebel wolves game Dawnwalker.

Mamy gry z zadziwiającą grafiką, ale fizyka i dźwięki poruszania się postaci to się nie rozwijają. W horizon forbidden west np śmieszy mnie to że współtowarzysze galopują gdzieś po krzakach niż jechać drogą ze mną, za mną itd. Tutaj w powyższym demo mam wrażenie że to porusza się robot pies Boston Dynamics który ma założone buty.

Although the environment looks visually crisp a detailed, the environment feels visually dead and not as full of life as witcher 3 has, I'd be happy if they can find a middle ground between these visuals and the aliveness of witcher 3s world. But in CDPR we trust to create captivating worlds with rich stories even if they are broken at first we know they will eventually fix and redeem it.

It will not look like this, this is a graphical demo only in a very confined area, no gameplay systems running in the background, cant expect the same level of detail in an open world.

I don't give a flying crap about top notch outstanding graphics. Make it playable without spending another 3 grand on a new machine every 5 years to play rehashed garbage. Just make it good and worth my time and effort.
