Shinmoedake volcano, located on the Japanese island of Kyushu, erupted explosively on March 10, 2018. Ash plume from the eruption reached a height of 4500 meters. Explosion sound reached after about 30 seconds. A meteor appeared before the eruption.
2018年3月10日未明に発生した新燃岳の爆発的噴火。爆発音は噴火30秒後に撮影地点に到達。噴煙高度4,500 m。噴火前、火口上空に流れ星。

Sound travels 340m/s. 0:35 eruption starts. You hear the explosion sound at 1:05. It takes 30 seconds. That means he filmed it 10.2km away from the volcano.

The actual term is a Bolide. (If you want to use the non Astronomy word, it's a Fireball.) :)

OMG !! I had such a nightmare exactly like this !! From our window I can clearly see the mountain that is hardly 10km away from our locality. Obviously that is not a volcanic mountain but it's rocky appearance makes it a bit creepy looks like it may have volcano. But I had many nightmares on it !!

It might a setting of the camera that enhances the light expositions. That's why the lava seems so bright too

I see the constellation Cepheus behind the volcano, meaning the camera was looking north-northeast (for March 10th, 2018), so at 10.2km (as calculated by Jacob Lee in the comments) to the south-southwest, probably shot from Kirishima Municipal Junior High School

Try sites like lightpollutionmaps, you only need to go to a yellow/green or darker to see that many stars and the milky way.

I just watched your Sakurajima 12 Nov 19 video and I was reminded, I keep seeing a green laser pointed at the ash plume in a lot of volcano videos... what's going on there?

Just a guess, but maybe it's used to point some analysis device. A spectrometer or thermometer maybe.

I have a green laser that would easily reach this ash from where it was recorded. It was very cheap, literally anyone can buy it.

So this camera was set up approximately 6 miles away plus or minus a few feet depending on humidity and temperature at the site. I think it’s Japan right? Could be a little closer to 5 miles then.

I was thinking the same thing. I'd expect more of a sonic boom kind of sound. These are scaring the shit out of me every time. But then again, we are heavily influenced by movie-magic. If I would have heard this sound, I'd thought the local hunter was on a roll tonight.
