i got to live in Kherson, Odessa, Cherkassy, Kiev and Chernigov, but Mykolaiv was the first and last city in Ukraine i got to live in. That was also the first time i visited a McDonald's in Ukraine. i remember it well. It was the Summer of the year 2000 and i walked up to that McDonald's to get some cheeseburgers. Just at the entrance of that McDonald's was Roxette-Stars playing on the stereo outside and inside very loud. But i liked the song. And i even remember asking the McDonald's cashier what the song was. And she looked it up for me. Ukrainians are the most hospitable! And Mykolaiv is one of my favorite cities and it's an awesome place to live!

Me too! I used to go there twice a month or more when I lived in pervomaisk (mykolaiv oblast). About a 3 hour drive and I used to love the road trip even though the roads were so dangerous (holes, big holes in the road). Would go hit up McDonald’s and California republic for food. I would do my own walking tour for 3-4 hours every time I was there. Then drive home at midnight and arrive before sunset. Good times. Was only 2 months ago!!!!

@@louisecorchevolle9241 Mykolaïv is the name of the city in Ukrainian. Nikolaev is the Russian name which the inhabitants use since they speak Russian there.

it was one of the most beautiful countries in Europe, look at all those wonderful people walking without fear, without mistrust in looks, living their lives and working in peace, look at all that incredible architecture, look at those clean streets and without police watching you. They did not need to allow the seed of hatred against Russia to germinate, it was a big mistake knowing that this could be the consequence. It is what I think now, although I heard that this story takes centuries. It is very complex. At least we have these memories, it is a poor consolation. I hope they can live together again and respect each other, too much has already been lost.

I’m from USA but lived 3 hours from mykolaiv for a year and a half and would go there every other week or so. I loved it!!! I would also visit Kiev and Odesa a couple times a month. I miss it!!!

Блин друг мне тебя реально жаль, я не знаю откуда ты но называть худший и самый отсталый город в Украине симпотным это просто жесть! Сам с Винницы и ко мне приезжали сослуживцы с Николаева и говорят будто в Европу попали, и это всего лишь Винница, что уж говорить если бы они увидели Львов или Ивано-франковск, за Европу вообще молчу, Николаев очень убитый и неухоженный город, видно что местная власть дерибанит бюджет города ибо иметь разбитые дороги и тротуары даже в центре, ямы по колено в самом центре, брущатки нет один асфальт и тот разбитый это зашквар, горы мусора, ни новых автобусов, ни трамваев, одни маршрутки рута это просто жесть, ни в одном городе Украины такого не видел!

@@davidtua5218 дружище. Я родом из Сум. Живу за границей. Был в очень многих городах Украины. Я знаю репутацию Николаева. Он не единственный убитый ... Большая часть провинций такая. Мне с виду по атмосфере город понравился... Нужно находит позитив во всём...

@@kirillminkov3807 Может и так, в Украине как по мне то худшие города по благоустройству это Николаев, Херсон, Кропивницкий и Кривой рог, а вот Запорожъе меня удивило, не плохой город, и видно что им занимаются!

Очень красиво делаете видео о городе детства. Я в юности улетела навсегда. А вот посмотрела на Сотку, на Космолот не знаю что это там, но раньше было кафэ "Прохлада" безалкогольное. Там познакомилась в 16 лет с парнем который стал моим первым мужчиной. И по Советской неслась в джинсах на скейте, это было модно и круто. А на нижнем БАМе были тепоходы ОМ-1 и " Каштан" с дискотеками на палубе и с баром в трюме. На всю ночь дискотека, закат и утром восход 🌅 Солнца. С будущим мужем я познакомилась в Швейцарии в 19 лет, он прилетал в Николаев 4 раза. Один раз поругались, он ушёл из квартиры и ночевал в гостинице "Турист". Найти дорогу домой ему было не трудно, я жила Проспект Ленина перекрёсток с Дзержинского в доме где был магазин "Ювелирный". Там купил он нам наши кольца. Мама говорит Жанна, как не стыдно, жених прилетает такую даль, из Швейцарии на самолёте, а ты поругалась, укусила за руку до крови. Ну ты и невеста, что он в гостиницу сбежал😂 А до этого в баре "Ассоль" отмечали моё 18- летие 5 дней. Я тогда встречалась с другим. Какое красивое видео. Вот смотрела, не поверите замечала каждую плитку на верхнем БАМе, а тогда ходила на каблуках, эту пушку где сфотогафирована когда мне было 5 лет, все деревья на Советской... смотрю и думаю а эти деревья видели меня. Не в одном городе мира я не видела такой зелёной улицы как Советская. Была последний раз в 2010 году 3 недели. Накупила подарков, жила у тёти в Варваровке за мостом. Я желаю тебе всего доброго, спасибо за видео. Николаевцы, счастья вам и всего хорошего 🎉 Берегите Николаев ❤это прекрасный город❤

I am from California and went to Nikolaev in 2019. I went there to meet a woman and we walked along those same streets it’s a very nice city. The sidewalks could use some work though sometimes I felt a little uncomfortable walking on the not so great sidewalks.

Only just moved away after nearly 5 years in Mykolaiv now in Kharkov. This city changed my life. Fond memories for me and will never forget about it but now in March all of this city has changed 😢

Hi from Ankara / Turkey and i visited mykolaiv so many times by staying 2-3 weeks per... i love mykolaiv, i have so many friends there. i remember all places within the video. i stayed a house at the building 6:03 , you need to use elevator but you need to go more 2 layers as well... hehe i offer the cafe at 9:30 Aroma Kava we ride horses in SOVIETSKAYA street but its not Soborna maybe? i also took a tour by the horse-car at 11:16 when i went to mykolaiv at first time, i wanted to eat pizza, and the restaurant is at 13:57 , very good pizza cookers. order small one. trust me you can play chess with people in the park at 15:56 i ate a few times hamburger in a Bistro at 17:40 24:00 the park is very nice! i always went to there with my family and also you can join a Catamaran tours in the river in summers i have a photo with the statue at 25:33 i actually have many photos all around the mykolaiv i am SO UPSET about that there was a restaurant named PUROG at 39:22 on the left side with white veranda , it was very nice restaurant, its not there anymore it seems that the Weinsteiner restaurant was converted to pjsc carlsberg :) at 46:24 i offer you to see square at 01:08:38 loves hugs and i wanna be there soon after corona quarantena.

More than 150 civilians have already died in Nikolaev, including my mother. Over 500 wounded.

Родной город, в котором я не был 29 лет. А жил я на ул. Советской в доме во дворе кинотеатра Родина. Уехал, когда первые безбашенные молодчики принесли на "свободу". А сейчас смотрю на этих красивых людей и думаю, а сколько из них осталось сейчас в 2024-м в живых? Неужели эта "свобода" того стоила.

К сожалению в Николаеве кроме трёх улиц и набережной показывать нечего, нет ни исторических достопримечательностей , ни новых архитектурных шедевров.
