Vicenza is an Italian town of about 112,000 inhabitants, the capital of the province of the same name in Veneto.
It is a destination for cultural tourism with flows from all over Italy and internationally and is nicknamed "the city of Palladio", from the name of the architect who designed most of his works here in the late Renaissance. Constituting an exceptional artistic achievement for the numerous architectural contributions of Andrea Palladio, Vicenza has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The city is one of the most important Italian industrial and economic centers, with a high per capita income as well as the heart of a province dotted with small and medium-sized enterprises whose productive fabric has for years been in third place in Italy for turnover in exports, mainly driven by engineering, textile and goldsmith sectors. The latter reaches over a third of total goldsmith exports in the capital Berico, making Vicenza the Italian capital of gold processing.
