Far cleaner than G&G, and so much more evocative. No disrespect to G&G but they: fell out of a jump, had a really rocky throw, were out of sync on a side by side spin, AND stumbled on the final pose? Mishkutenok and Dmitriev deserved the gold. Period.

Нет!!! Никакого "явного предпочтения" Гордеевой и Гринькову у судей (и по ходу, экспертов фигурного катания!) НЕ БЫЛО!!! Их Победа на той Олимпиаде стала АБСОЛЮТНО ЗАСЛУЖЕННОЙ!!!! Они показали больше сложных элементов и прыжков, у них намного лучше скольжение (а у Мишкутёнок-Дмитриева даже здесь в записи очень слышно сильное царапанье льда коньками..) Вот за артистичность этой паре оценки явно были занижены..хотя эта больше оценка базируется на личном впечатление каждого из судей, чем оценка за технику..

G&G had far better basics. When they stroke across the ice, it's effortless and silent whereas M&D put a lot more effort into their stroking and you can also hear them digging and scratching across the ice. G&G also had 3 lifts to M&D's 2 and all 3 were more difficult and better executed in terms of footing and rotation from Grinkov. G&G also had 2 death spirals to M&D's one. G&G also skated a much more difficult side by side pairs spin with multiple changes of position whereas M&D SBS pairs spin only had one change of position and no change of foot. G&G also had much bigger throws with more speed and flow coming in and out of the throw itself and their technique on the throws was much more challenging (in terms of where his hands are placed on her body). Natalia Mishkutenok also might have two footed her double axel and Artur Dmitriev also has a noticeable trip on the straight line footwork sequence. And in terms of the split triple twist, G&G gain speed through theirs whereas M&D noticeably slow down when he catches her. M&D were amazingly innovative performers and artists but they were not good technical skaters.

Details that non-judges don't know about, such as the speed cone out of and height of the throws. Take for example watching Arturo vs. Sergei in the throws, how Arturo had to use his toe pick to keep pushing himself while Sergei's speed allows him to just glide. Arturo comes to almost a complete stop after a throw and Sergei glides. This was a great performance to watch but the details to perfect skating technique were unmatched with G&G on several elements in ways that the general public doesn't know.

@@shalom968 Yup. It's also very indicative of their training as well. G&G were the quintessential Moscow team that emphasized technical perfection. M&D were a quintessential St. Petersburg team that emphasized artistic innovation. However, G&G were by no means artistically void. They had stunning grace, posture, line, and extension, way more so than M&D. And I liked their less is more approach to their expression.

gk891 All these things but the difference in lifts and the more consistent speed across the ice from G and G is what stands out most obviously. I still liked Natalia and Artur better, tho. One of my favorite programs ever. 😁 I think 5.6, 5.7 is too low on either mark but especially on the artistic side.

@@valeriy4333 если по правде, то они выиграли, а не Гордеева-Гриньков, которые и катались с ошибками и качаниями партнера. Жаль, что недобросовестность судей лишило эту пару золота. Это не по спортивному и не честно! Хотя таких примеров куча)

Мы не профессионалы и не судья,однако мне тоже больше понравились Гордеева и Гриньков,это моё мнение, никого не хочу обидеть! Светлая память красивому парню и спортсмену СЕРГЕЮ!🌷🌷🌷🌷

Очень люблю ГГ, но Мишкутенок и Дмитриев были лучше. Такова судьба, Гриньков стал 2-х кратным ОЧ, а через год ушел из жизни. Артур прошел свой путь ещё к одной золотой медали Олимпиады. Так и должно было случиться.

Гордеева и Гриньков навсегда №1 в моем сердце,их катание-завораживающее зрелище.Не зря судьи были к ним так благосклонны.Уникальная пара!

@@gk891 gurl you keep talking about basics in these comments. this couple here was creative, innovative, doing spins no one else did and also highly technical. g&g basics are just that; "basic" . winning olympics on "basics" is for muppets .

I felt the opposite. I felt the passion(and yes, relief at the end) , but looking at G &G, while Katia was pure perfection, he seemed off and lacked emotion.

And yet it was enough to bring the crowd to their feet and receive the loudest ovation of the night.

Really? I've always found this program to be super-compelling. But I guess artistic impression will always be different for everyone. It's very subjective.
