Its already a great city, but politicians didn't do much about its infrastructure and continued from whatever was left from the British era. Only in the last decade and a half we are witnessing transformation in the city's infrastructure and landscape

Even if they would be kept for posterity, a lot of activists would be dashing off PILs in the court arguing that they can damage the environment or pose security threat and blah blah blah. Some Road markings are very much there.

Granted that our country has numerous hurdles and challenges but this gave us a new sense of belief that we are capable of hosting international and multilateral events. And in case you are not aware, multilateral events and summits like these are held across the world and have certain protocols at venues of the event , right from the fixtures and installations to security , route of cavalcades of the participating delegates. Most of them are temporarily constructed and dismantled after the event concludes, some of it discarded as scrap or auctioned, some of it even reused for some other purpose, in a sustainable and profitable manner. If you still feel it's a "pointless waste of government funds" , you always have the RTI to your aid , seek information about from where they got the funds.
