You need to take that leadline off your cow or you can hang your calf. You should have a COW halter on Patty not a horse halter. You plan on milking so you dont NEED a halter on her. You can just walk up to her and put a lead around her neck if you need to lead her to her milking stanchion till she "gets it". Leaving a halter on a momma cow can cause the calf to break it's leg. Dont mean to give advice when not asked, but i dont want you to have to dispatch the calf.

Tom, wanted to update you and let you know we got a cow halter on patty...it fits a lot better, and her lead line is much shorter...we will probably be able to get rid of it soon because she is doing so well.

@@4KidsandaFarm thats awesome guys!! Just to let you know... you needn't be shy about meeting other homesteaders! I watched alot of them but only a few i have subscribed to.. you guys are one that im sub to. Because.. it is not how much you know.. (cause NO ONE knows it all even if they think they do) but how open minded you are to learning! You or I can be hundreds of years old, and we havent begun to learn all there is to learn. So take in what other homesteaders teach but use your own judgement because there is, sorry to say, alot of misinformation on homesteading videos! And to prove we dont know all, YOU taught this 62 year old farmer to put a stupid tray under the ducklings water!!! 🤔🤔🙄🙄🙄🙄😂🤣😂🤣😂😉🤩 LOVE IT!! You guys are doing great!!!! GOD BLESS!!

I assume the only difference between the white dexter and the red, black, and dun is the color? Temperment , being able to use it as a dual purpose cow for beef and milk and size are all the same as the other colors (variations) are the same? They sure are beautiful.

Yes, color is the only difference. They breed a white park cow into the dexter breed to get the color. They sure are fancy looking though 😊

True dexters are never white. Something got mixed on the bloodline.

It is a registered breed. They did mix in some white park when they started the breed.

Thanks Connie, we have a much shorter lead line on her now. We will keep the hater on her for now because she is not fully trained. She is a great cow but she was a pasture cow that we are training to be a milk cow. It will come off eventually but not until we are fully comfortable with each other.
