She's on another level as a 'natural talent' very few have. She must have been amazing to watch in practice as she lacks the nerves of steel that Aliya had in meets.

@@PageMarker1 Agreed. She seemed a bit prone to mistakes that cost her titles that were soooo at her fingertips. Mustafina was a mental soldier where as Komova was not. Komova was so fluid & elastic; she just floated. My favorite gymnast of all time.

@@motherjugs5163 As an ex-gymnast, I've seen guys that can light up the practice gym with startling moves they'd never put in their routines. All nerves once they got the nod. Viktoria reminds me of those sorts of performers, but her UB was as good as anyone's. Oh, she tapped her toe in London in '12, big deal. Oh, Maroney didn't win gold she took as step. Tend to remember these gymnasts as trailblazers as they just stand out more, win, lose or draw.

"Greatest floor routine ever"? Komova's routine was amazing, no doubt, but why do you think it was the greatest ever? There have been far more difficult ones and that alone makes hard it to grant her routine the GOAT title. You probably argue with execution, which was wonderful, yes. But an easier routine is less likely to get many deductions, so the relatively low difficulty store will always make other routines look more impressive. Komova's routine was extremely difficult of course, but it's the best of the best we're talking about here, so the standards are ridiculously high.

This routine goes into history books of this sport, That honestly is alot better then that undeserved gold from the American.

@@mariusa.5863 This is the best routine in the sport every preformed as it has both factors of Artistic Gymnastics. Something no other country has except Russia. The combination of Power with Artistry is SUPERB to any routine anyone else has preformed.

@@mariusa.5863 To me it's just the way she does her flying spinning twists. On the floor, the beam and the bars it's just so beautiful. Something that's awe inspiring to the eyes. It's probably just her body type but I just can't believe when I see it each time. No matter how many times I watch it it just blows me away. Never saw it that way from anyone before or after. Obviously this is just coming from a casual watcher.

No the judges got it right. The margin of Gabby’s victory over Komova was correct. They were basically (I said basically) the same gymnast, so it made complete sense how big the score gap was at the end when you factor in that awful vault landing vs a pretty solid amanar.

@@JetBlueAirways320 Gabby was overscored on beam and bars. There's no way in hell that the judges could justify Gabby having better execution than Aliya on bars. Also, Gabby's switch ring should've been downgraded to a switch split, because it simply wasn't a ring. If Gabby wasn't American, Viktoria would've won.

@@fortheloveofcats2462 Beam was scored correctly. Komova and Gabby basically had the same routine with one decider: the Arabian vs the back tuck full. There’s one tenth there. The beam scores were one tenth or so apart, going to Gabby. Beam was scored right. Gabby’s ring checked the boxes it needed to. It makes sense that a bar routine with high difficulty had more deductions. It’s a trade off.

@@JetBlueAirways320 it certainly did not check the boxes. Her leg wasn't at head height and her back was straight. That was an oversplit, but not a ring, so Gabby should've scored one tenth lower than what she was given. And I'm not comparing her bars score to Vika who had a couple of errors on bars and was scored correctly, but to Aliya who was nearly flawless. Gabby, with her short handstands had a higher execution score than Aliya, which shows that she was overscored.

Why? Komova had only 0.2 tenths advantage in start values over Gabby, it all came down to cleaness and Gabby wasn't the gymnast that took a bunch of steps in her vault, if anything they were generous with Komova's vault score. Chow constructed Gabby's routine amazingly for London and she had the meet of her life.

this was an incredible routine. but it's an all-around competition and they can't just like, give her the points she needed to make up for her vault because she did so well here 🤷‍♀️

Stolen only by her own mistakes, period. Sore losers carry that kind of mentality. She acknowledged later that she walked away from gold on that vault, but still appreciated everything she accomplished. You should try doing the same instead of degrading another athlete who performed at their best and earned their gold medal.
