Yeah that was crazy I forgot the spring. I wish I knew why it was stuck in first originally. I replaced the shift solenoid and messed with it forever and just decided to do a full rebuild. As far as the suburban goes I sold it about a month ago. I kinda didnt like the set up and bought a Yukon and this winter im going to start a build on that.

You go about things like I do, I gotta see how things are assembled. I’ve never rebuilt a 4L60E . I’ve got a bad one in a 93 GMC Truck, it maybe my first victim. 👍 I liked your video

Thanks! Yeah I was lucky enough to have a spare valve body to compare my rebuilt one to or that would have been hard to find the problem. I have only ever rebuilt one 4L60E and its not as easy as some of the videos I watched made it look. Here is another good video I did just recently on that same transmission getting stuck in 3rd. Haha will do. Good luck with your 93. Just take your time and take lots of pictures just in case you run into something and dont remember how it came apart. I bought a kid pool to put all my parts in as I took mine apart. It worked out good to keep everything clean and organized.

I just did a rebuild myself and I am having the same problem. I will be taking the VB back out and checking everything.... This has been a nightmare

After rebuilding this transmission I can tell you I have no intentions of ever doing it again haha. I took 2 days to replace all the clutches and what not and then the disappointment of it being stuck in 1st gear was annoying. Glad I was able to figure it out but 10 out of 10 would not recommend.

This seems so much easier than doing this kind of stuff outside in the winter like I always end up doing. Ever think about rebuilding these transmissions on the side for cash?

Yeah working in the cold on anything is a task. After rebuilding this transmission I dont think ill ever want to touch one again haha. I know theirs good money in rebuilding them and I have 3 laying around that are bad but no thank you.

Having the very same issue in my 4l60e I just totally rebuilt with all the fancy new Sonnax parts. Won't shift out of first. I will bet it is the valve sleeve flipped upside down like yours, I can just feel it. Only other possibility is a servo issue. Thanks a MILLION! That is one of theose little things you could easily miss but it is right in your face. Gotta remember "M good", "W bad". Can I see to check it without removing the valve body I wonder?

I sure hope this video will help one other unfortunate person like myself otherwise its useless information in this video haha. I dont think you will be able to tell if its flipped or not without removing the whole valve body. At 4:36 you can see me remove and flip it the correct way. If you think something is electrically wrong you can just unplug the transmission electrical plug and put the truck in gear and it should be stuck in 3rd. With mine the way it was I could unplug the trans and it was still stuck in first meaning I had a mechanical problem. Please let me know if this fixed your issue as I would feel a whole lot better knowing im not the only person to have done this haha. I hope it works out for you.

@@PostalRedneck Waiting on a new Sonnax servo pin to arrive today then get it dialed in to know if I need to drop the valve body and check the valve. I will let you know how it goes.

My truck just starting get stuck in first if you play with throttel it will shift but it real soft trans only has 25 k on it any ideas were to start

I would check the fluid. If it smells burnt then you have a clutch going out as the trans probably got hot at one point. If its dark then you might have a plugged shift solenoid. You also might just have a shift solenoid going out. Here is a video on how to check the ohms on the solenoids to see if they are any good. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h72Fqd1nu5nVn6M.html

I have a 03 Chevy S10 with some issues. When pulling out from a stop it feels like I'm in 2nd gear. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You could check the resistance on your shift solenoids. I had a trans stuck in 3rd as well but never in 2nd. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h72Fqd1nu5nVn6M.html

@@PostalRedneck I put new A-B solenoids in it. I have all my gears and it shifts fine. Only when taking off from a stop it feels like I'm in a high gear. Also when manually downshifting it don't feel like first gear is engaging. I thought maybe a stuck 1-2shift valve but Idk.

Well I'm stumped. I've got the same issue. Mine it stuck in 1st but everything in my valve body looks good. And I can't figure out what the issue is

Sorry to hear that. None of the valve's were sticking in there bores? I would guess if its not a flow issue like I had it would be a 1-2 shift solenoid valve stuck in the valve body.

Question you only have 1st also how about reverse

Yes it also had reverse but only 1st as a forwards gear.

@PostalRedneck will my valve body was all correct but I double checked my 2 Teflon seals on front pump both appeared to be ok till I ran my finger across had a chunk missing
