Hey everyone, check out our latest video. This one is the process to do a full trans fluid flush on a 2004 GMC Yukon 4L60E. I recently did a pan drop, and the transmission fluid that came out of this was horrible! You couldn't see through it even if you held it up to the sun.
This is how I did it with NO extra parts to purchase. It was all done with stuff I had laying around the house. This process would work for a Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon, Chevy Suburban, Cadillac Escalade and any other 4L60E powered car. It made a HUGE difference, and should be something you do in your car too! Thanks for the video first of all!!!! So I’m a little confused. I understand using a vacuum to pull fluid from the dip stick. But wouldn’t you want to change the filter afterwards if you got the full flush complete you still could vacuum the pan out and put that fluid back in?

This is a cleaner way of doing it.Once you loosen the trans pan, you get fluid all over. If you extract fluid first, cleaner job. Also, some change the filter every 2 or so flushes, some people open a whole new can of worms by taking the pan off in the first place.

Especially w/ an '06 Yukon it can be a pain just to get to the bolts & that's assuming the bolts aren't rusted in ace. A shop posted a video & spent over 2 hours cleaning off the old gasket & mating surfaces. I've heard from multiple sources the filter isn't much of a filter as it's a sealed system, & the magnet is what collects the particles not the filter. I haven't changed the filter in my '00 jeep cherokee XJ AW4 trans & a lot of guys don't & we get 300k or more on those old but rugged engine & trans. Using a quality fluid & regular "severe use" service schedule seems to be key. Adding a trans cooler would also be a better use of time & money then scraping gaskets & getting the pan to seal.

The return line lubricates the transmission. It doesn't dump into the pan, so you were doing damage, which is not smart.

Do you need a two chamber pressure vessel or something to pump new fluid into the return then?
@voidisyinyangvoidisyinyang885
@voidisyinyangvoidisyinyang885 9 ай бұрын
@@stevetillery2432 Pretty sure the flush machine will use the return line and not the dipstick - they have the choice at the quick lube place to use the dipstick or both cooler lines (one to flow out and one to flow in). But the problem with using the return line for the new fluid is I think that will force out the old fluid blockages back through the transmission to cycle back out as the new fluid replaced the old.

I too have learned that you should change the fluid. Only from now on I'm gonna have the pan dropped ant a look at the filters. They are there for a reason and I've heard the arguments for leaving it alone but really that just means you will drive it until the transmission grenades itself. Now I was in that camp practically my whole life but having done a couple of older projects and now I'm replacing my transmission as I speak. Why ? Because I ignored some basic things it started doing; which was over modulating or slipping going into third. Now I'm armpit deep in grease and still only halfway done. The point is there are good arguments for both but having lived long enough I would say preventative maintenance is you best bet.

Hi there, Some people states that flushing your trasmission after 150k is not good at all since it would force all the metal debries in the toque converter run into the valve body then causing sleepage. Unless it is just a falacy? What do you think?
@JrZCarZ
@JrZCarZ Жыл бұрын
Hooking up a transmission to a service pump like they have in dealerships for a flush is not good. If you do it this way you are using the transmission pump to do the fluid pumping, which is it's normal operation, so it's easier on the trans and doesn't force the fluid through. Take it with a grain of salt thigh cause if you ask 10 people the same question you'll most likely get 10 different answers 😄
@hansenriquerach-mendoza3515
@hansenriquerach-mendoza3515 Жыл бұрын
Again. I asked 10 trasmission tech senior experts and told me depending of the fluid inteeval service in your trasmission would take the right option to flush under normal drving conditions , but if the car's owner doesn't know or doesn't have any previous récords of maintenance the probability could be 60% to 40 that after any good procedure flush would cause a slippage after several miles of driving your car. Now the grain of salt will turn eventually into a headache.
@voidisyinyangvoidisyinyang885
@voidisyinyangvoidisyinyang885 9 ай бұрын
@@hansenriquerach-mendoza3515 I think the flush machines either go through the dipstick (which is no different than what someone could do at home with a dipstick pump) OR they hook up both the flow out and flow in to the coolant lines! By flowing the new fluid back in through the cooler line then they are forcing the gunk backwards out of the transmission because the new ATF is flowing right back into the transmission into of if the new ATF is going down to the pan directly via the dipstick. Pretty sure that is what is meant by "reverse flow" via the machine flush.
