Oh yes! You definitely should move your kitchen items to the passenger drawer so you can access it without lifting your diy countertop! Great idea. I’m just impressed that you fit all that in your ikamper and it closes! If I don’t deflate my mattress enough it won’t close 😂

Really? What air mattress do you have? Theirs? I’m ordering theirs for my new tent coming in this week. Hoping I can still fit my stuff in there with the thicker mattresses.

Thanks for taking the time! Lots of folks show off their drawer builds, but rarely have I seen how people organize their gear. I camp most weekends out of my 3rd gen 4runner and find that my system and gear has become so much more simplified after about 100 trips. It's funny to look back on how many totes I used to bring. Now everything is streamlined and has its own place. I think the biggest thing is to get rid of the things you don't need and to stash away the things that you rarely need (unless it's fire extinguisher or safety equipment.) I carry a fiskers bow saw and a hatchet and that's been plenty for firewood. I also know this is a funny tip, but instead of a roll of TP, I just use a box of tissues. I find it's cleaner and easier to use and doesn't get dirty when you set it on the ground. Also, one more vote to get rid of those magnets holding your paper towels in case of a collision. Happy and save adventures!

The amount of bins I used to have that would slide around and move every time I turned is crazy. The drawers have really helped out a ton. Also the tissue box is probably a better idea.

And the more I think about it you’re probably right about all the magnetic stuff in general that’s in that panel. It’s bound to be a projectile in the wrong situation.

Recommendation: Get an ARB cable guide (Desert Rat Offroad) for the fridge power cord. It will tidy things up and keep the fridge slide from snagging the fridge power cord.

I’ll have to check that out! Thanks. I’ve only snagged it once or twice but it scared me that I broke it because I had pulled it out really fast.

The table idea is great. Do you remember what brand of table that was?
@OXFOOT

I’ll have to look it up when I get to my 4Runner again. But I think most roll top tables the are rectangular rather than square will work. Just check and see if the table too fits before you start cutting it lol.

Do you have a guide on the wiring of the maxi trac to the battery? Wasn’t sure if you had it hard wired or just still use the alligator clips when you need to do a hookup.

You've got some great ideas. My concern with the "Desert Does It Panel" is what happens to the equipment stored on that panel in the event of an accident? Absolute retention is critical. I don't think those magnets are able to withstand the forces created by sudden deceleration. Same goes for your holster for your G20. That should be riding in a Level II or III holster. I keep the Element fire extinguisher in the front door pockets. That's the one thing I want to be able to grab immediately without having to look. Having to go to a different section of the truck, move things to be able to open the hatch and look for a fire extinguisher really wastes precious seconds when a fire breaks out. As far as the cost of the Element? Yes, it's expensive but compared to what I have invested in my truck, its cost is insignificant. Also, its run time is insane. This is really helpful. Thanks for taking the time.
@OXFOOT

I have considered that a few times. I may end up going with a different mount for the gun at some point, something a bit stronger but as far as the mag and stuff yeah it may not be the best. The way I see it, I’d rather have a closed knife hit my leg than fly around and hit my head. It is something I’ve thought about and kind of the same reason I’m switching RTTs to mount my skis on top. The thought of a snowboard flying in my general direction in a wreck is not my idea of a safe environment.

"Kentucky allows any person not prohibited from possessing a firearm to carry a loaded or unloaded firearm in a vehicle in any closed container, compartment, or storage space installed as original equipment in a motor vehicle by its manufacturer, including but not limited to a glove compartment, center console, or seat pocket, regardless of whether the enclosed container, storage space, or compartment is locked, unlocked or does not have a locking mechanism.1" Just curious since it technically is an aftermarket part.

You are the first guy that I’ve seen that shows you have a gun to protect yourself. I figure all you overland guys that go out to these remote places and camp MUST have a gun to protect yourself. How could you not? All it takes is for some crazy guy to come up on you and try to harm or kill you.. and there’s no one else around to help. I don’t care how remote or far out you go, there’s always someone else out there too. And they know you have gear and a truck worth thousands of dollars.. since you pretty much show all you have in the video (and where to find everything).. it’s just too easy of a temptation for some idiots. You guys that do this solo camping and sleep out there in those tents are brave.. I would never do it. My mind would always wonder if someone might sneak up on me at night. Smart move having a gun! Especially nowadays.
@OXFOOT
@OXFOOT Жыл бұрын
Most of the reason why is because KZfaq demonitizes anything g*n related. I will throw it in there on occasion but just enough to let people know and skirt past KZfaq’s weird weapon regulations. A camp site I frequent once had a lunatic come through and slash at tents with a machete. I think about that sometimes. I think it was like in the 90s but still, it’s on my mind.

@@OXFOOT - It should be on your mind bud. Always be vigilant and use wisdom wherever you go. I love watching videos like yours and I appreciate the effort and content, but you really have to be careful how much personal information you put out there. And.. I can’t believe KZfaq has a gun or weapon regulation? How ridiculous! I guess it shouldn’t surprise me though. These people don’t get it. A gun isn’t bad when it’s used and handled properly. It’s the irresponsible people that misuse them that are bad! Man, I remember when my dad used to have his rifles affixed on the back window of his pickup truck back in the day. Times have certainly (and unfortunately) changed.
