Tufting technique using wool by by Anastasia Daskalopoulou, A.télio Studio, Greece
Anastasia Daskalopoulou, a Greek textile artist, uses wool from sheep living in Epirus, Greece, to support local sheep farmers. She hopes that this will give the rare native sheep breeds of the area a better chance of survival.
Anastasia presents the tufting technique in the video: she shoots the wool yarn through the material with a device called a tufting gun, which really looks like a gun, and the device cuts and fixes the yarn. In this way, the color of the material creates a material resembling a fiber carpet. Depending on how thick yarn you use, how long you cut it and how tight the tufting is, different textures are created. In addition to the rugs created in an abstract style, the Greek artist also presents a vest, hat, bag and wall picture made with this technique in the video.
