Get the manual! I have a 2017 with a G-56 and love it.

G56 is totally badass. I've got an '09 3500 Cummins. Rock solid transmission

thanks for the info! I'm torn between getting the aisin and the g56. aisin can tow double that of the g56, but I plan on tuning it and studding the engine and throwing in a South Bend dual disc clutch, if it will have close to the capabilities as the aisin I'll be a happy camper

I'd be interested in seeing a full on review of a new G56. I haven't been behind the wheel of one, yet, but I am quite interested in one for my next truck. I haven't seen too many on the local dealer lots.

I have the g56 on a 3rd gen 2500 5.7l Hemi and I absolutely love it. It makes towing much more enjoyable as well I like being in control of what the truck is doing. No knowledgeable input on the ratios from me but it seems fine on the gasser with 35in tires and 4.10 gears

I bought a 2018 4500 with the Aisin, could not stand it. I've driven manuals my whole life, was pretty much a lemon. I traded it in after the 7th trip for warranty work and and had the dealer found me a dually with the g56, I love it, will never go back.

A manual would awesome to be reviewed on a pull. A cab and chassis single rear wheel with 3.73 just to see?

Thanks for this. I had a 4th gen (2010) g56 and I also hated the ratios... Much prefer my 5600 (24v) for towing and I like the 4500 (12v) for fun and speed. The 2010 g56 was much better deleted and tuned, especially with the 'torque management' off. I also ran Lazarsmith GJ fluid which I would highly recommend if you haul with a g56. If the new ratios are better that makes me curious to try 4th/5th gens again.

get the g56 bud. better fuel economy with less drive train loss plus engine and exhaust brake combined would be much better for hauling. delete it and throw in a southbend clutch and good to go. ill be waiting for it:)

Do it! You could prob find ways to manage your mobile office even w/ a shifter. Does Rams unconnected work well enough to do that? Or is it hokey? I appreciate ram allows you to configure a 6 speed in most trims. Chevy, Ford, Toyota, and Nissan offer little to no options for manual transmissions. You either have to buy a base 2 wheel drive, or (Toyota) makes you buy a higher trim level.

I have a 2016 3500 cab and chassis g56 and haul freight everyday with it no complaints fixing to put different rear end for higher gears the 4:10s in it kill me in fuel costs

Hello to a fellow Spokanian! Ive got a 2007.5 6.7 with the G56, great for towing and braking with exhaust brake but a pain in the spot to be shifting for years on end towing heavy equipment on a daily basis. Considering which trans to go with for a second tow truck

I had a 2015 2500 with the G56 and with 3.42s it was horrible for towing. Great for highway MPGs but not towing. Needed 3.73s badly.

Manuals will never hold the power like automatics will. Ever since the lock up torque converter came out, all the advantages of a manual disappear.
