Hi, I refered internet for some information and designed this box. Couldn't get a direct design online for this subwoofer. Mixed a sealed and a ported box design to make this.

Hi, I don't sell these items. You can ask any carpenter by sharing this design. If you still need a readymade one let me know.

If you are using a branded woofer then follow the tuning methods they provide. If it's a normal one without any specs then we are good to go. Based on woofer and box quality the frequency may slightly vary.

@@DIYCommunity Hey thanks, but here's a follow up question, can i add another diy simple air ported active subwoofer box (8" at 200watts) to my existing active sub which is a 4th order bandpass designed box (8" at 200watts)? Is there a possibilty of phase cancellation since they both have different box design? or it's just okay to go with it as long as they'll be tuned up with the same freq. and volume.

@jomanski101 Hi, try with the 4th order one with a good amplifier. It should satisfy. If you plan to add one more yes there are chances of phase cancellation. You can avoid this by placing both woofers apart and move around your room to find the best place to avoid phase cancellation.

Hi, The experience which i share may not be same for you. It depends on various factors like the room size, woofer size, woofer quality, box dimensions, woofer placement, amplifier wattage and low frequency you get from your amplifier. When comparing on various type of subwoofer box. 4th order and 6th order gives you deeper base only when all the dimensions and all required parameters are met. Ported boxes are much easier to making and it gives a decent output. If you are planning for a 4th order derive all the parameters first and then start building. So you don't get hidden surprises once build. Hope i have answered you. Let me know if you have anymore questions. Happy to share what I know.

You are welcome. For Any subwoofer a high dense wood will have more stability. If you are planning to make some curved edges then go for MDF. Else plywood. Both of 19mm thickness.

Hi, you can make a box of 15x18x22 inch. And use 3 ports of size 2.5 inch and port length is 10 inch.

Hi, The frequently tuning is purely on the design of box and port size. If you already have a box then try using a sub pre with frequency adjustment. Set the frequency which matches your box and matches your expectations.

Hi, You can use subbox pro app to design your box. It has readymade designs for branded subwoofers. Also it has option to enter T/S parameters and design any subwoofer. I have designed a sealed and a ported box then combined them together for optimum results. Most softwares calculate the inside volume of the box.

Welcome back 🙂 yes you can use. The purpose of using thicker plywood is to avoid vibrations. If you face any vibration issues attach a plywood piece of 2 inches to the cross walls (supporting opposite side) and this will minimise vibrations.

Hi, That is very hard to achieve still I will try in my next project.

Both subwoofers are good at low bass. Hard bass and soft bass can be achieved based on what subpre you use. Select a good subpre with frequency control to achieve the sound you are looking for. Also the box design is very important for hard or soft bass.

Sorry for my silly questions, but such things can't be found with experimenting or without having abundant knowledge

With a branded sub with all TS parameters available, we can build an exact box in which we get same response as they mentioned. But with non branded we modify the box size and sub placement to achieve this. The frequency measure can be done using mobile app and thro microphone. Recorded reading may not be precise but we can tune to a nearby value. As i suggested sub pre with frequency control can be used in which the sound quality can be adjusted as per users requirements and also for various sound tracks.

Yes you can use. Reduce the size by 1 inch overall. It will not be perfect but not sounds bad also.

Hi, JBL subwoofer somes with a sheet where they have mentioned exact measurements. That will be the best match. You can also refer those measurements on JBL website

JBL subwoofer comes with a dta sheet where you get all measurements suitable for their subwoofer. You also see ported and 4th order designs on that sheet. Refer JBL website if you don't have a data sheet.

It's a 4th order band pass. You can see the ports at one side of the box. Sealed at one half and ported at other half.
