He was a very good receiver and an important part of that team. But he did not have a HOF career. You don’t get into the Hall because of a couple of spectacular plays. You have to look at their entire body of work. He just doesn’t stack up. His stat line is half of what the average HOF receiver has. He’s just not there.

Oh the look he has in his eyes when he plays damn just so focused and cool. I came to Canada in the 80s knew nothing about football, when I got introduced to it I instantly became a Montana and the 49ers fan. The niners back then was absolutely dynamite. That was the dream team.

LOL Joe Montana had been the 4th quarter clutch kid since he won the National Championship in College after sitting out with the flu for 2 1/2 quarters to score 2 TD's in 4 minutes in the 4th quarter to win the game. Tom may have perfected being a QB but Joe is the OG and manufactured whatever coach or scouts looks for and wants in a QB even to this day Pat Mahomes is compared to Joe Montana not TB. Look up the 1979 Cotton Bowl Classic and then you'll understand who Joe Montana was before he even took an NFL down, he never needed a Belilchick or Wash to be great he already just was.

So true… After that interception Montana goes off for fourth straight touchdown Drives after cincinnati turns the ball over and implodes and the 49ers win in a blow out… Prove me wrong… That’s why your stupid what if scenarios never work because you never account for the fact that the game could go in a completely opposite direction than the one that you fantasize about with your what if scenarios.

He was the greatest of his era. There can never be a greatest of all time since the rules changed to protect quarterbacks and receivers. Now they even have a defenseless player flag. Back then they could knock out a quarterback or reciever running a slant across the middle. So yes Brady is the greatest of the modern era but Joe was the greatest of his time. First, I'm not going to stoop to your level. Do your research. Realize many hated San Francisco in the '80's but what Montana & Walsh accomplished during their tenure has got to be admired & respected. Can't overemphasize the importance of "0" pics & SB losses. Not going to dismiss pre-SB titles, but that was before the modern draft & best athletes did not play profootball. Before you slam Joe, see their #'s in those games. Joe GOAT.
