Other games, or steam UI when hardware acceleration is enabled, etc. It doesn't matter how good your PC is either, because that's simply how Windows works. I like calling it "hardware acceleration fighting," it gets even worse when you use V-Sync for a hardware accelerated application.

I'm worried about the AOM:RE to be honest. So far they have shown several upgraded graphics of units (like Medusa, Arkantos and Athena) and a new portrait. -> The upgraded graphics are needlessly high resolution, which you can't see in-game anyways (it is an RTS, not an RPG!), but also don't change the body shape so Arkantos is weirdly stumpy. This implies that they haven't changed the skeletons, so I wonder if they also keep the same animations. -> The portrait of Bast(et) is incredibly bad; they assure us that it is not AI generated, but the fingers are wrong anyways. On top of that, her new portrait is not even more mythologically correct! Sure, late Bastet had a cat-head instead of a lioness-head, but it was a black cat! (Twitter comments also claim her new portraits features a male cat head, but take that with a solid pile of salt. Can you even tell the sex of a cat from just the head?) So yeah, if they are not going to fix the mythology or the skeletons (hence animations) but instead focus on high resolution graphics and a few niche features, then this game will be a huge waste of money.
