Thanks for posting these videos! They've helped me narrow down what vehicles I will pick up. I currently run a B6.2d and T6.1 but am looking to add a 4wd 1/10 buggy to the stable. The TLR may be the one! Thanks again for the informative vids...keep up the good work!

Always enjoy your 'shootouts', thorough and honest reviews (although I dont always agree with you, lol). I would like to see you outfit them all with the same electronics though, and then run them at the track and compare lap times (in addition to the pros and cons) - that to me is a true 'shootout'! Thanks for all the hard work you put into these 👍

have watched this review a few times. just love seeing the different cars. recently bought a used B64 to get into the Hobby to see if i'd actually like it and would race competitively. have been racing at the track for about 2 months, as im a noob and was sceptical about the B64 's durablity. i have cartwheeled that B64 30Meters far countless times. crashed into a lamp post almost flat out. i have only broken an already bent shocktower and bent a shock shaft. i am very surprised and quite impressed with the durability. was thinking og getting a brand new kit in the new year. super Excited of what Xray is doing with their part video series of launching the new XB4 21. cant wait to see that buggy. hopefully you'll get one and review it.. maybe compare it with the new B74.1 thats coming out now. My friend who i bought the B64 from is seriously regretting buying the B74. says that the car has a lot of issues especially when changing the stock setup.. dropping the height of the rear diff..but then touching the chassis. removing the 2 chassis screws when wanting to add a bit more flex in the standard setup stripping spur's because of it touching the chassis when hard cornering. hope they have fixed some of these issues with the new 74.1 of what i have heard is that the B74 drives a bit easier on high traction surfaces but that they all think that the B64 was a better car with less hassles and nonsense. i would take his word for it as he has been racing for about 10 years and has won 2 wheel and 4 wheel national titles here in South africa.

I would think TLR, AE, Tekno, and XRay would be the 4 to talk about if it were a video about dirt... I haven't raced 4mod buggy, but the B64/74, Tekno, and Xray seemed to be the most common here last summer...

What pinion gears should I get for the TLR 22x-4 as a starting point? As a. starting point. I would start with the 78t spur gear and I purchased a 13.5T motor and I am not much experience driver. I am based in the UK where temps are not very high and plan to start practicing on shorter tracks. If anyone could give some advice that would be great.

Dang i want to get back into the hobby. Suprised to see the AE get 3rd place and losi get first. Driving both back in the day, im not suprised to find out how good the 22-4 was out of the box. Losi was always way more competetive out of the box than AE ever was. I dont know about within the last 10 years but Associated always took more work to get dialed out of the box compared to losi for sure

There are sooo many rip off version of the Original shaft drive transmission layout that restarted the buzz on Shaft when everyone was opting for Belt drive cars. The original to this design was non other than the English company called Tenth Technology. The car was called "Predator" and it was headed by the owner and designer (Richard Weatherly) who brought it along for the 1st time for some folks to see at the IFMAR Worlds 93 Basildon UK, for some of us who got to see it in the flesh for the very first time thought the design was radical to say the least but that's another conversation. Given the success of the transmission design of the Predator, it was inevitable to catch on with someone else's design. Along comes Team Durango in 2006 where they came out with their own unique design but pretty much copied the tranny design off the Predator... Then along came Team AE that looked similar than the previous two aforementioned cars. The rest as they say, is history. I think the latch onto the shaft design was coupled with the fact that the Battery (Nimh - LiPo) & Motor/ ESC Tech (BL) had made issues of race speeds beyond the 5 minute (Endurance) a thing of the past. Where milliseconds of kilojoules weren't so critical anymore. There is however, no denying - belt transmission is the most efficient transmission system. 4 Wheel buggies started with Tamiya which were Shaft driven, followed by Kyosho with chain drive and the car to really kick start fast racing was none other than Schumacher belt driven chassis CAT (Car All Terrain). The 80's I would say was a revolutionary era, so many cars using 3 different transmission systems (Shaft, Chain, Belt) and FYI, even Team AE had a 4wd Chain drive car of their own, thanks to Mr MIP who designed and manufactured the parts for the conversion on the gold tub chassis + rear mounted motor I might add. It would be awesome if another company were to incorporate the belt transmission again just so help juice up the interest again, far too many cars look alike, seems boring in a sense.

rycam418418 what I’ve been told is that they usually don’t come out with a completely new model but once every two-three years. Typically you can just buy the updated parts and install them on the previous model. I think that was the case with the ‘18-‘19 models, but then in ‘20 they made major redesign changes which ended that possibility.

Why would you want a slipper on carpet? Classic layout on the AE buggy? Don’t you mean copied like everyone else? Durability is typically dependent on how much you crash. The less you crash the more durable it is.

Ball differentials are actually the more modern stuff. The xx4 didn't have adjustable diff height but it was definitely way ahead of the competition for ove 2 decades.. ball differentials are more modern the gear diffs. Rc cars have gotten alot better, why got back to gear differentials and carpet tracks?

What constitutes as a truggy? I feel you can make almost any RC car into a truggy/buggy. Lower the suspension and add some specific truggy/buggy wheels done. I've got a cheap jlb cheetah and with it lowered and wheels added it's a completely different RC car. So do I own a truggy probably not in someones eyes but is it truggyfied YES!

@@RazorRC I see,I see. I'm not Spanish just saying. So entering races ect you'd have to meet track condition such as motor sport ect. Could it be said though if your not a racer most if not all rc cars can be made to handle ish like these buggies. After all 1/14 1/12 1/10 is just a scale not in my opinion anything to do with the cars overall ability.
@Zeiss120
@Zeiss120 4 жыл бұрын
@@mehimrc1314 Yeah but most races are set for 1/10th and 1/8th scale cars. In the south we have pan handle cars and oval races where the scale is anywhere between 1/10th and 1/5th scale. You can clearly see why most main RC racing is in the 1/10th and larger as the bigger scale allows for more beefier parts and such ( I didn't want to say innovative as if you told them it was 1/16th I'm sure the engineers will come up with a good idea). If you really want to know about RC racing history watch this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jbycg9R7m769Z4E.html And watch this to see how the morden scene is like today in the USA kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qMuoZbaQ0LfUmYk.html Or in Europe kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n9OfpKiT2KmalKc.html Most of these are on out door dirt tracks.
