3 жыл бұрын

We're getting close to completing our Tillotson 228cc powered 4WD power wheels go kart! In today's episode, we change the final drive gear from top speed to more acceleration. We also change the shocks, stiffening them up for a firmer and more controllable ride. We'll be painting this project soon, and it'll be complete!
Thanks for Watching!

With a simple jig and a drill press you could relatively accurately drill large holes in the hub to lighten it

I wonder if you drilled large holes through the side of the hub and small holes in the OD (braking surface) if it would aid in cooling like a drilled brake rotor

LOL I was just watching the video and was about to say the same thing until I read your message that Hub size is damn near the size of that brake

@@Toolingabout yes you can cross drill holes on the braking surface of the drum to help cool it, it also gives the water somewhere to go to help prevent brake fade. I have cross drilled drums for older from drum brake cars in the past just for this reason. Just don't get carried away with to many holes lol.

Yep, Ike's fat a$$ requires it. Additionally, I am sure they weigh more than the engine/etc. in the front thus the need for a more aggressive spring in the rear to actually have a level ride height vice the squat they now have.

I’ve always wondered why the rear shocks are at such a steep angle, it essentially defeats the spring, placing it closer to straight up and down would make it not sag as much and allow the springs and shocks to do their jobs more effectively.
@lindsey349

Its know wonder the rear is soft with them shocks so layed down, you would have to have twice as much spring to make it as stiff as a shock standing up.

I think you guy should weld on some mounts on the gas tank for a racing seat instead of a camping pad. Put some memory foam on top of the camping pad with a piece of vinil over top of it. You need a better carburator. That one bogs out. Testing is just part of working out the bugs. If you lenghten the steering shaft longer, you two could easily steer it better with out hitting your knees and legs. Good video! 😁👍 Don't be mad at me. I was just sugesting.

When you are changing gearing. Changing the small sprocket in the equation has a greater effect than changing the large one. Example, if you have a 12 tooth clutch and a 60 tooth wheel, you will get a 5 times the change adding or removing one tooth to the clutch versus adding or removing one tooth to the wheel.
@datraktorman69

They can't even do the simple math to figure out the ratio,I think what your telling them may be above their ability
@Truth_Spoken
@Truth_Spoken 3 жыл бұрын
Uhh, no. It’s not 5 times the change. Yes a tooth difference on the smaller gear will have more of an effect than a tooth on the larger gear but no where near 5 times. The gear ratio is calculated by dividing the number of teeth of the driving gear by the number of teeth of the driven gear. Doesn’t matter which is changed, it’s always that formula to calculate the change.

You connected the drum break backwards. If the solid mounting point is on the bottom and the cable is on the top the The friction when applying the brake will tend to pull the band towards your cable assisting in the break action. With the cable on the bottom the friction pulls against your cable trying to open the band up fighting Against the braking action.

If you move the rear upper shock mounts further up the chassis, closer to the fuel tank, it will also stiffen up and give you more articulation. You want a resting positive rake so it’s somewhat level while one of you are riding.

I mess around like you guys do in my shop. I am not an expert but my observation on the Bronco being too soft is that your rear shocks are layed down “way” too low. As your suspension compresses the rear shocks loose their leverage and spring rate is decreased alot! Please raise the top mount. You may have to also move the lower one twords the swing arm pivot to retain your ride height. I never write comments. I love your show to watch when my shop is too cold to work in.
