The memories have me in tears. I travelled this road for months. Week in week out. I wrote a car off here, I pulled into Winjana gorge in the middle of the night, waking up to that cliff face in the full morning glory sunshine with red cliffs TOWERING over my humble little Toyota. I climbed through the Tunnel @ Tunnel Creek and sat in the cave thay pigeon fought his battle from. I visited Queen Victoria and Swam in the most beautiful water holes. I cooked under the stars, I visited the fossils... this place gets in your blood. And it NEVER truly leaves.

My wife and I did the gib last year. We went to tunnel creek soon after the wet season, and you had to swim to get through multiple sections. You couldn’t touch the ground! When it’s pitch black and you see nothing but the glow of croc eyes whilst holding your backpack above your head, it is certainly an amazing experience!

A must visit back when we’re were exploring for diamond back around 1980 and my boss “the doctor” took us through the gorge in a light aircraft below the cliffs, an exciting flight. But the best was being off the Gibb River Road at our exploration sites, mostly helicopter supported! I recollect flying along a remote gorge that was getting narrow then the joints controlling the drainage did a 90degree turn, and amazing was a stone circle sitting on the cliff above - a very special location that I will keep confidential. I also recollect the day of the 11 flat tyres on another field trip!

Great episode! We must have only just missed you on the Gibb the other month as we tracked to El Questro the day Her Majesty passed. Fuel figures: we’re in a 2021 Ford Ranger with the 2.0 Bi-turbo towing a 1.8T T-Van. We also had about 500kg in the Ranger tray. Average touring over the 3500km in the last trip (incl the Gibb) was 15-16L/100km. This is sitting on 100km/h and overtaking as needed. What an AWESOME road - keen to do it again some day!

All travels done in a ford courier dual cab. Today we travel in comfort with Prado VX and a 2.9 t tandem axle van averaging about 16-18 lt per 100 kms @ 90-95 kms all done on black top. Cheers

Love this series Graham. My wife and I drove from Perth to Broome some years ago with some stops in places you have covered…but you’ve made me realise how much I missed! I will be back. Our set up is a 2021 Ford Everest 2.0L Bi Turbo, and we tow a relatively small off road camping trailer (Conqueror UEV-345 / Conquest 2) that comes in at around 1.5 tonnes fully loaded up. On a recent trip from Sydney to Trilby Station near Louth, NSW (~840km each way over the Blue Mountains) we averaged 11.8L per 100km. I know the 2.0L Bi Turbo isn’t the engine of choice for consistent heavy towing, but I was pretty happy with the economy when paying $2.30 per litre.

Absolutely loved it. This is where it's at, touring and seeing this amazing country we call home. I first heard the story of the Boab from The Bush Tucker Man many years ago on one of his episodes. Apparently it is the same story elsewhere in the world (I cant recall off hand where) and it is believed the tree originated there and the seeds were brought over to trade with the top end Aboriginals. Such stunning locations Graham and the team, please keep it coming or even back to the AuSolo. I love this stuff.

This special episode with Graham with random couples touring Australia is quite boring to honest. The regular style overlanding with numbers of different rigs from DMW, Mits alloy, fulcrum etc. And wheeling different tracks, camp cooking with Shauno, Graham and Jocko. Is more interesting and fun to watch. Graham New Y62 and Shauno's new 200 series LC both chopped and extended are yet to wheel together. Shauno on his LC 200, Graham on Y62, Reuben on Y62, Timbo on Mits alloy LC 79 series, Jocko on restored hilux (army green) would be an amazing video.

Our last sojourn was 2 and half years ago, "interior "lap from Perth, north to Kunna, across to Isa ,down to Brocken Hill and back to home....!4500 km all up , returned average 18litre /100 . That was a full ARB build 2016 BT50 pulling a very high profile 22.6 ft van right on my 6700kg GCM, optimum speed we found to be 95 to 97 kmh...Was very happy with that, cos every where we went we had bloody head winds, never ran with the spinnaker once...Keep up the good work troops.

I have an 2012 Mitsubishi Triton with a 2T (loaded) off road camper and I get 13-14ltr/100km highway driving. I’m happy with that!

Loved the commentary & all the extra info Graham! Such a professional & such the entertainer. We are a tiny channel but these spots just sired in our last two episodes too! Might catch you on the road somewhere!

Nice one. 👍 My 80 gives me an average of 19L/100kms on freeways. And about 28L/100km when 100% off-road.
